Around the Synagogue Summer Shabbat Services! Scheduling is now underway for summer Shabbat morning services at Beth El. Continuing our long-standing tradition, members of the Congregation will lead these services again this summer, on the Shabbatot from June 22 through August 17. This is your opportunity to recite a haftarah, present a D'var Torah, daven P'sukei D'Zimrah, Shaharit or Musaf or lead services from the rabbi's lectern. Our professional staff is ready to assist anyone in brushing up on old skills or in acquiring new ones. Hazzan Larry Goller can assist those volunteering to daven and he or Ritual Director Mark Stadler can aid those wishing to recite a haftarah. If you want to present a D'var Torah, Rabbi Vernon Kurtz or Rabbi Michael Schwab can help you develop a topic and can guide you to sources and commentaries in English or Hebrew. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Larry Goldstein at 847-564-0926 or largolds@comcast.net.

Shalom!

Warmer weather is here, and in only four months, we will begin the High Holy Days. If you would be interested in learning the special nusach (melody by which the prayers are chanted) for the High Holy Days, now is the time to make an appointment with the Hazzan to get started. Perhaps you currently chant Torah on Shabbat and would like to learn to do so on the High Holidays? Again, please contact the Hazzan. If you already are one of our daveners, please consider brushing up with the Hazzan and contact him now to get on top of things early on. It is important to note that the several weeks immediately before Rosh Hashanah (September 4) is a very busy time for the Hazzan, so please act soon. Contact rschlosberg.nssbe@gmail.com if you have any questions.

I would like to let you know about a great opportunity to sign up for a CSA* with Primrose Valley Farm and receive your deliveries here at Beth El! When you sign up you will receive a wonderful supply of fresh produce of great quality once each week for the entire summer and early fall! Please remember that by participating you also support agriculture that is responsibly grown in concert with Jewish values. In addition, Primrose donates a significant portion of their crop to the ARK and a small portion of their revenue is also donated back to our synagogue, making it a win for everyone. To register and/or get more information, visit the Farm’s web site: http://www.primrosevalleyfarm. com making sure to fill out the "Affiliated” section of the form indicating you are from NSS Beth El. Please forward this e-mail to anyone from our community who you think might be interested. Thank you!

B’shalom,

Rabbi Michael Schwab
