Slimy Delicacy of Sarawak Text and Photo by Lillian Agama Harmless-looking, sliding around in a large basin at the market place in a small town called Lachau, Sarawak. They are called Litah in the local dialect and is a food item. Nutritious and delicious too, I was assured. Unfortunately, (or fortunately), I could not stay long enough to taste this gastronomic delight. Litah can be found along stony riverbanks and reeds. It did not feel wet and slimy, it had a clean look, I guess from having been washed before going to market. Next time you are on the road in Sarawak, do stop awhile in Lachau for other surprises.
