Lone Star College not Graduating Latinos

Page 1

El Perezidente It has come to my attention via an article by Joe Ramirez titled “College has low success rate with Hispanic Students, that there is a low success rate of graduations of Hispanics at Lone Start College. I have recently read that more Hispanics are now in college than ever before. I have also read that Hispanics are now the majority of the applicants at the California State University system. It seems to me that we have to do something to not only get Hispanics to apply, and to not only get them admitted to universities across the nation. But we need to get a greater proportion of them Graduated. I propose to build a site that Hispanics throughout the U.S.A. can go to and immediately feel at home and feel like they are supported in their effort to graduate from 4 year institutions. Initially I will be posting videos of professionals in the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers that graduated since I am an engineer myself. The videos will explain how they were able to graduate given the issues that most Hispanics face. From financial problems , to problems at work, to problems at home, to problems with a society and language which is extremely different to the Spanish Language and Culture. And then I will post videos of all Science and Technology and Mathematic majors as well. My mission is to have all of the majors represented with videos. This should help Graduate more and more Hispanics in U.S. Universities.
