Instead of making people feel better, they generate confusion and make the person feel insecure because they have no idea how to change to meet your expectations. Be Realistic The final factor that makes feedback ineffective is probably the most common. If you tell someone they can do something better than what you saw, that’s not enough. They need to know how to do it. If you ask them to “do it like this” or “cut the budget by 20%” or “make a small change in your report,” they won’t get the idea of how to improve because those are broad generalizations.
