Munnings (Speightstown-La Comete, by Holy Bull)

His first crop is highlighted by the Grade 1 victress I’m a Chatterbox, as well as Graded stakes winners Om, Ben’s Duchess, and No Problem. He has also sired the dual stakes winners, Lake Sebago and Catalina Red. His top tier of progeny is rounded out by the stakes winner Bring in on Dude and the Grade 3 placed Alright Alright. Of the successful young sire, John Sparkman wrote in the Daily Racing Form, “Munnings’ early success is bound to attract much better mares this coming season at a stud fee rather higher than the $12,500 quoted for 2015. He may be well on his way to reaching top rank as a stallion.” As of October 2015, Munnings ranked as leading second crop sire, with Lookin at Lucky behind him in second. It is no surprise Munnings is off to such a fast start at stud – he is supported by a masterpiece pedigree. The young sire is by Speightstown and out of the Holy Bull mare, La Comete. His dam is a half-sister to the Grade 2 Maker’s Mark Mile winner and Grade 1-placed Lasting Approval. La Comete is also the half-sister to the multiple Graded stakes winner and Personal Ensign Stakes (G1) victress, Icon Project. Munnings’ second dam, La Gueriere, was also successful on the track. She won the Grade 1Queen Elizabeth Challenge Cup Stakes as well as the Bewitch Stakes (G3). La Gueriere was also third in the Grade 2 Matchmaker Stakes. Success also traces back to his third dam, who produced millionaire Al Mamoon, successful sire Lost Soldier, and Austrian champion Born Wild. Additionally, she is the second

dam of Grade 2 winner, Master Command. Notably, Munnings is a direct descendant of the great broodmare, La Troienne. His pedigree is mostly suited for speed at high levels of competition. Another chestnut, Secretariat, has a key influence on Munnings’ bloodlines. He appears not only in Speightstown’s pedigree twice, but he is also present in La Comete’s. Additionally, Speightstown’s second dam is by a son of the 1973 Triple Crown winner’s sire, Bold Ruler. Munnings is built strongly without the heaviness of most sprinters. Even at stud duty, he exhibits notable strength through his legs, gaskins, and hindquarters. As Ryan remarked, “Munnings is a terrific-looking individual who showed brilliant speed on the track and had an explosive kick at the end of his races.” UNCLE MO Uncle Mo, unquestionably the most spectacular son of Indian Charlie, is off to a promising start at stud as his beginnings as a racehorse. The unbeaten champion two year old has had a remarkable first crop of juveniles, highlighted by Nyquist, winner of the Grade 2 Best Pal, Del Mar Futurity (G1), Frontrunner Stakes (G1) and most significantly, the 2015 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1). In the Juvenile, the Doug O’Neill trained Nyquist achieved his fifth consecutive win despite a wide draw in the race. Uncle Mo has also sired the victress of the Grade 1 Alcibiades, Gomo, and Uncle Vinny, winner of the Grade 1 Sanford Stakes and placed third in the Hopeful Stakes. Among his other successes are Grade 3 INTERNATIONAL RACEHORSE
