MOVING UP TO HIGHER GROUND Seit 1975 residiert der private Club Baur au Lac in der Villa Rosau, jenseits des Hotels, auf der anderen Seite des Schanzengrabens. Doch nun müssen die über 500 Clubmitglieder aus aller Welt sich an ein neues, wenn auch temporäres Domizil gewöhnen. Die Bausubstanz der Villa verlangte nach einer Sanierung und gleichzeitig entsteht auf dem Gelände ein modernes Geschäftshaus in exklusiver Seelage. Nach langer Suche entschied sich Charles Roulet, Besitzer der Villa Rosau, im Restaurant Sonnenberg hoch über den Dächern von Zürich, Quartier zu beziehen. Dort, im ersten Stock, teilt man sich für die nächste Zeit die Räumlichkeiten mit dem FIFA Club. Über 17 Jahre hatte hier die Schweizer Küchenlegende Jacky Donatz das Sagen, zum Jahreswechsel übernahm dann Sternekoch Marcus G. Lindner die Verantwortung für das kulinarische Wohl der Clubmitglieder. Für zweieinhalb Jahre dürfen diese jetzt den Blick über den See von höherer Warte aus geniessen, bevor es dann in die neu gestalteten Clubräume am General-Guisan-Quai zurück geht. Just across the Schanzengraben from the hotel, the private Club Baur au Lac has been in residence at Villa Rosau since 1975. For now, however, its more than 500 members from the four corners of the Earth are having to get used to a new, albeit temporary home. The fabric of the villa was in need of renovation, and a modern office building in an exclusive location on the lake is being constructed around it. After a lengthy search, Charles Roulet, owner of the Villa Rosau, decided to transfer the Club's activities to the Restaurant Sonnenberg, high above the rooftops of Zurich. Here, the Club will occupy the first floor, sharing its premises for the time being with the FIFA Club. Legendary Swiss chef Jacky Donatz ran the show here for 17 years before being succeeded at the turn of the year by star chef Marcus G. Lindner, who is now responsible for keeping Club members properly fed and watered. For two and a half years, members can now look out across the lake from a higher vantage point before returning to the revamped Club premises on the General-Guisan-Quai.
