interactive knitwear concept
‘small things, nicely done’ is an interactive knitwear project encouraging open-source design thinking and communal making. the collection facilitates wearer engagement through panels which can be clipped, tied and threaded together to make up a variety of different garments. IT IS HOPED THAT THESE ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE SHARED WITHIN THE COMMUNITY TO CREATE A WEALTH OF GARMENT OPTIONS USING SIMPLE PANEL SHAPES. ENGAGEMENT WITH CLOTHES WORN AND CREATING A SENSE OF JOY AND CREATIVITY IN THE ACT OF GETTING DRESSED DEVELOPS EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT TO THE PANELS AND A CONNECTION BETWEEN DESIGNER, MAKER AND WEARER. developing this relationship across the supply chain and garment journey forces each stakeholder to be invested in the next stage - thus unveiling the stages of a traditional garment life and providing an alternative which is more personable, ethical, environmentally conscious and accessible to a range of sizes and abilities. WE DO EVERYTHING SO FAST WITH LITTLE THOUGHT. GETTING DRESSED, TIEING YOUR PANELS TOGETHER DEPENDING ON YOUR MOOD AND CREATING CONVERSATIONS AND ENJOYMENT THROUGH THE ACTIVITY IS AT THE CORE OF THE IDEA.
