River Region United Way The River Region United Way helps fund 46 agencies in three key impact areas – education, income and health. In 2011, the organization served more than 140,000 people. The largest United Way contributor in Autauga County is International Paper, followed by Publix. “Thanks to a company match of 60 cents for each dollar pledged by employees, International Paper collectively donated more than $131,000 this year,” says Melody Colvert, director of the River Region United Way-Autauga County. “Publix pledged more than $51,000.” Many of International Paper’s 500-plus employees volunteer with agencies that receive United Way funding, which gives them a personal connection. “I am continually amazed by the commitment and generosity of our employees,” says Don Forst, mill manager at IP Prattville. “I – and the entire board – appreciate their dedication.
