A dog paradise

Denver Colorado has made owning a dog not only easy, but also fun.

“I love being a dog owner in Denver Colorado. This city really did a good job in making it a dog friendly place,” Jason Tew, a long time dog owner, stated. “I love spending the day with my dog and Denver has created an environment where pets and pet’s owners can truly enjoy their time together. Sometimes I even get overwhelming because I have so many options of what I can do with my dog.”

A common activity for many dog owners in Denver is taking their dog to the dog park. In the city of Denver there are eight free dog parks that are used on a daily basis. These parks are filled with dogs of all different types of breeds and are busiest after six o’clock at night when the hot dry days start to cool down.

Having these dog parks has made life easier and better for many.

“I do not know what I would do with out my neighborhood dog park!” Said Michelle Siles a local resident living near the 46th and Sheridan dog park. “I have two huskies that need to run for at least 30 minutes a day and I simply cannot fulfill their running desire

my self. Having dogs parks allows my huskies socialize with other dogs and tires them out as they run around and play with the other dogs non-stop, which in turn makes my life much easier when I get home.”

The restaurant community in Denver has realized that dogs are a big part of Colorado’s culture and many restaurants allow them to join in for bite to eat. Dogs can be found lying under tables inside the air-conditioned restaurants or catching a tan under the outside tables as they are waiting for a scrap of food to drop. Even restaurants that do not allow dogs on their premises still cater to them by having water bowls and dog tie up posts outside.

“I take my dog out to lunch at least twice a week. It is nice that I can take my dog to eat with me and I do not have to leave him at home. I really try to minimize the amount of time my dog is home on his own,” said Lyndse Bortnick a downtown dog owner.

The royal treatment of dogs does not stop here as many dogs even join their owners on a day of shopping. A majority of stores in Denver allow shoppers to bring their friendly pets in with them. If you need a second opinion on a piece of clothing you know where to turn as your best friend will be right by your side.

When you need to get out of town for a weekend and your pet was not invited don’t worry. Denver is the home of over ten dog day cares that provide a magnitude of services. Services at these daycares include daily and nightly boarding, indoor dog parks,

swimming pools, and grooming just to name a few. Dog daycares can be found all over the place in Denver, which makes it convenient for pet owners.

“I have been boarding my dog for the past five years whenever I go out of town. I know my dogs are safe here and I can enjoy my vacation without worrying about my pup,” said Judy Feinberg a frequent dog boarder. “The peace of mind I get from knowing that my dog is okay when I am not around is worth every penny I spend on daycare.”

In Denver dogs are almost viewed as humans and are allowed to do many things that dogs of other states simply cannot do. This leads to the belief of many Colorado residents that Denver is a paradise for owning a dog.
