CMIG’s World Class Customer Assurance and Service To help industry deal with all hand protection issues, the Group offers a range of marketing materials that provide both product and customer support and are collectively referred to as the Hand & Arm Protection (HAP) Suite. These currently cover such areas as: • Product technical data • Product applications • Identifying hand hazards • Making the right choice of glove for the task • Defining hand injuries • A checklist for healthy hands Work is currently underway to expand and enhance the HAP Suite™ in line with recently conducted qualitative customer research which provided some interesting insights into our customers’ expectations. The new HAP Suite™ will focus on servicing our customers’ needs and increasing levels of customer satisfaction within the Hand and Arm Protection market. Furthermore, CMIG places a great emphasis on supporting customers and end users by gaining standards and certificates on specifications, quality and the environment, such as:

CMIG Research & Development (R&D) The Group’s dedicated approach to R&D has enabled it to stay at the forefront of the hand protection industry. With separate R&D teams operating across the Group, CMIG is constantly looking for new hand protection innovation and solutions. The recently enhanced Research team use data from the Marketing Information System and initially deploy a blue sky approach to develop concepts that the Development team may be able to implement and that meet the needs of the target market. The Development team is made up of a specially selected set of people from across the Group, calling upon relevant expertise for each project to develop the ideas initially conceived by the Research team in a bid to turn hand protection ideas and dreams into reality.

Raised Diamond Grip Good dry grip: raised pattern offers exceptional abrasion resistance.

Beaded Cuff The rolled edge of the cuff improves tear resistance, prevents the cuff from rolling back in use and helps prevent droplets travelling beyond the glove.

Roughened Sandblast Grip Fine wet and dry handling: high resistance to wear and abrasion.

Safety Cuff Helps protect wrist area. Slide on and off easily.

Patterned Grip Reversed pattern offers good “suction” grip in wet handling.

Knit Wrist Designed to hold gloves in place and prevents debris from entering glove.

Wrinkled Grip Ideal for “heavy duty” wet and dry handling.

Straight Cuff Allows for easy turn down. Open cuff also allows ventilation to keep hands cool.

Roughened Grip Generally used on heavier “supported” products: good in dry conditions.

CE marking Performances of Comasec and Marigold Industrial gloves are assessed according to the European standards. They are symbolised by pictograms sometimes with figures representing their levels of performances. These standards are regularly updated, hereafter is the latest edition:

EN420 - General requirements for protective gloves This pictogram indicates that the user has to consult the instructions for use.

EN420 lays out the general requirements of most types of protective gloves including: • Ergonomy, construction (neutrality of pH, amount of detectable CrVI and no allergenic incorporated substances), innocuousness and comfort (size), dexterity, water vapour transmission and absorption. • If requested electrostatic properties must be measured according to the tests of the prEN 1149-1,-2 or 3. Pictograms shall not be used and specific information on lab test conditions must be added. • Indication of the levels of performances: 1 : minimum, 2 : good, 3 : very good, 4 and more : excellent, 0 : does not offer protection, X : performance not measured. • Information on using instructions and levels of performance according to the standards described hereafter. EC Food directive The parent directive EC/1935/2004 fixes general regulations for all plastic materials intended to come into contact with foodstuffs. It stipulates that under normal conditions of use. The materials used should not yield to food components in a quantity likely to present a danger to human health or to involve an unacceptable modification of the composition of the food products and there should be no deterioration of their organoleptic characters. Complying with the PPE Directive: 89/686/EEC The Directive specifies two classes of gloves meeting two levels of risk: ‘minimal’ and ‘mortal’ or ‘irreversible’ risk. A risk which falls between these two levels may be described as ‘intermediate’. To comply with the 89/686/EEC Directive, you must establish the level of risk and select gloves of the appropriate class. A system of marking has been developed to help you in that selection. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) falls into the following three categories: CE Simple Design - for minimal risk only

For gloves of simple design offering protection from low level risks where the consequences are reversible. Manufacturers are permitted to test and certify gloves themselves. Gloves of this category are CE-marked as follows: CE Intermediate Design - for intermediate risk

Gloves designed to protect against intermediate risk, e.g mechanical protective gloves requiring good puncture and abrasion performance, must be subjected to independent testing and certification by a Notified Body Only these approved Bodies (which have their own identification number) may issue a CE mark, without which the gloves cannot be sold. The name and address of the Notified Body that certifies the product has to appear on the instructions for use that will accompany the gloves Gloves of this category are CE-marked as follows: CE Complex Design - for irreversible or mortal risk

Gloves designed to protect against the highest level of risk e.g. chemicals, must be either tested annually by a Notified Body or the quality assurance system used by the manufacturer to guarantee homogeneity of production must be independently and annually checked by a Notified Body. The Body carrying oUt this evaluation will be identified by a number which must appear alongside the CE mark (in this case 0334). Gloves of Complex Design are CE-marked as follows:

Chemical Protection

This category is dedicated to gloves with the EN374 rating, providing protection against liquid chemicals as no glove exists which provides protection against all chemicals. It is vitally important that the glove providing the most effective protection against the chemical and the application is selected. As a general guide, Nitrile gloves provide the most effective protection against oil-based chemicals (solvents, oils and greases) whilst natural rubber latex gloves are suited to protect against water based chemicals (acids and alkalis).

DMF or N,N-dimethylformamide is a clear solvent that often has a fishy smell due to dimethylamine impurities. Its molecular formula is C3H7NO. Aerostar Production These gloves are made in our plant in Portugal which has a DMF free working environment. When the gloves are dipped in PU our production process uses a water based, rather than a solvent based wash.

What is PU ? Polyurethane foam (PU) is a spongy, cellular polymer which contains the urethane radical and is produced by a chemical reaction involving a polyester. PU offers the elasticity of rubber combined with good toughness and durability which equates to a better abrasion and tear resistance compared to rubbers, while offering higher mechanical protection.
