Alumni Notes Mea Ashley Mississippi University for

Women has announced Mea E. Ashley as director of Student Life. After her 3½ years as associate director, Ashley has built a strong rapport with students, faculty and alumni that has allowed her to be a servant leader.

Felicia Neal Daniel

Atlanta’s High Museum of Art has appointed Jackson State University alumna Felicia Neal Daniel as chief financial officer in Georgia. Daniel is responsible for development of financial strategy, annual and long-term financial planning and ongoing financial reporting and operations.

Eric and Candice Elliott Candice Elliott

and her husband, Eric, are the husband and wife duo, who have brought internationally sourced wine to Richmond, Texas. In 2020, the couple opened Water’s Edge Winery & Bistro. This family-owned franchise is a micro-winery in the heart of the suburbs and specializes in making eco-friendly international wines-locally.

David Howard

The Division of Institutional Advancement at Jackson State University and the JSU National Alumni Association, Inc., announce the appointment of David Christopher Howard as the new director of alumni and constituency relations.

Archie Tucker, Ph.D.

The University of Texas at Tyler has selected Archie Tucker, II, Ph.D., as the new senior vice president for development and university advancement. As senior vice president for development and university advancement at UT Tyler, Tucker will guide the department’s strategic planning and development strategies and oversee fundraising efforts and alumni and constituent relations.

Charlotte P. Morris, Ph.D. The Tuskegee University Board of Trustees proudly announced Charlotte Morris. Ph.D., as its ninth president of Tuskegee University. Morris is the second female president of the University.

James T. Minor, PH.D. Southern Illinois

University President Dan Mahony, Ph.D., has named James T. Minor, Ph.D., as the 10th Chancellor of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Minor assumed his duties on March 1, 2022.

Daffney Moore

The St. Louis Development Corporation, the economic development arm for the city of St. Louis, announced the appointment of Daffney Moore as chief of staff/director of Equity and Inclusion. In her role, she will oversee strategic business initiatives from development through completion to advance the St. Louis Equitable Economic Development Strategy – the framework for equitable growth and prosperity for St. Louis.

Josiah J. Sampson, III, Ph.D. is the

new vice president for Enrollment Management at Jackson State University. In the role, Sampson will provide leadership and oversight for the university’s strategic enrollment management planning for the areas of admissions/recruitment, financial aid services and the registrar and records services. Sampson most recently served as provost and vice president of Academic Affairs at Saint Augustine’s University. A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Sampson is a proud JSU alumnus with strong ties to the local community. His father was the orchestra director and music professor at Jackson State University. His mother is a retired teaching supervisor from the Mississippi School for the Deaf. This upbringing encouraged his passion for education, the arts and youth advocacy. Among his many academic achievements, Sampson earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from JSU, a master of education in administration and supervision at Tennessee State University, and a doctor of philosophy in biomedical sciences from Meharry Medical College with a research focus in cancer biology. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Elizabeth City State University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Alabama.
