ABSTRACT
PATTERNS, ART, DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE
POINT OF NO RETURN With so much harm done and despite the efforts to mitigate the damages, it is undeniable that these damages cannot be undone. For as long as human walk on Earth, climate change is inevitable. This work takes peek at the new world where climate conditions, beyond the level of extremity, becomes the new norm and nature reclaims its land.
ABSTRACT In Second Eden, nature thrives from the rainfall of stardusts. Tiny and frail creatures exert immense forces on the sensitive eden as tidal forces of the ocean rest on the lightest sweep of the the new moon's wings.

ARTIST REFERENCES
ARTIST REFERENCE
Maggie Chiang, a full-time Taiwanese American artist whose illustrations evoke a longing for adventure and places unseen. I admire the flow expressed in her works with minimal leading lines – which also sets the mood and atmosphere for the environment designs. The muted colour palette she employs bring about the subtle beauty in nature, along with the touch of her fine line works and simplicty in forms.

MOTIFS DEVELOPMENT
DOODLES & ILLUSTRATIONS Sketches and illustrations with my theme in mind.

PATTERNS, ART, DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE
DIGITAL VECTORS I decided to digitalise my work despite initially wanting to do pure illustrations as it offers more versatility in colour applications.
WIND & CLOUD Created for the purpose of adding textures and a sense of depth and details. They can be used as as background fillers as well. This was achieved through holding out a candle flame's tip against a sheet of paper, tilted on an angle. The technique allow for an accumulation of soot, which then I scanned it for digital application. I felt that this technique was able to capture the essence of wind, flow and clouds. 08
MOTIFS DEVELOPMENT
FINAL MOTIFS The motifs were designed for versatility in the application of colours. In the considerations of the banner, the colour palette for each motif has been applied.
09
PATTERNS, ART, DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE
Motifs designed for swatches and pattern applications.
The clouds and wind motifs would be manipulated to blend in with the banner using Photoshop layer and transparency settings.

BANNER DESIGN
SKETCH LAYOUTS Rough sketches of the layout for the banner were made to allow for better work flow. These 2 layouts felt too static and symmetrical with the centralisation of the motifs. The designs also lacked the sense of flow.
DIGITAL LAYOUT Moving forward, more details were added with the banner flow in mind. I wanted to express a natural flow with the help of curvy details that depicts the natural landscape of mountains wind and ocean waves. 11
PATTERNS, ART, DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE
SELECTED ITERATIONS The selected layouts were chosen for their own potential of the unique details which I had difficulty in developing them further. Design A was one I spent the longest time on, yet I could not progress as I felt that the colour palette was not right for my theme. Hence, design B came about for a fresher redesign with new layout and a more hopeful colour palette.
A
B
Details of the plants and houses put together created intricate visual interest.
While seemingly empty looking, B offers a subtle beauty of nature that I felt was important to be portrayed.
With creative guidance from Professor Ina, who gave the suggestions of merging the two designs with photoshop layering and changing the transparency settings. And that was when the magic happened!

MEDIA ART NEXUS WALL
Achieved with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Dimensions: H480 px by 3840 px
MEDIA ART NEXUS WALL The design of the Media Art Nexus Wall was designed with the considerations of the horizontal layout as I highly prioritise the visual flow and experience for my audience. This time, motifs were angled to create a sense of flow and dynamism to the design. The colour palette was retained to create a cohesive design between the banner and this design.
