blends the two cultures, never losing the important aspects of either. This capability is rare and a pleasure to be a part of.
Ambassador Mr Hiromasa Yamazaki
It is a great pleasure to commend the Jamaica JET Alumni Association (JJETAA) for its remarkable achievements in 2018. The contributions of the JJETAA in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan has strengthened that relationship, developing it into a bridge to connect and transport the different ideas, language and practices of our respective countries. JJETAA has extended warm support continuously through several avenues, the JET Programme being one. Your contribution to the JET process stretches from beginning to
end and further. From promotion of the programme, to preparation of selected candidates and even to welcoming returning JETs, your assistance is evident in every step of the way. I commend your efforts to give back to your communities while promoting inter-cultural understanding. The reinvention of the Japanese hanami under the poui and the contributions and active involvement in various cultural events are brilliant ways to not only ignite, but to fan the flames of interest in Japan. The association so effortlessly
There is no doubt in my mind that the JJETAA will continue in their esteemed role as cultural ambassadors and guides for the foreseeable future and beyond. As borders become more and more blurred and as globalization becomes more evident and inevitable, JJETAA stands at the front line, having already made a home for Japanese culture in Jamaica. The Embassy of Japan in Jamaica stands by you and all that you represent. We are more than honoured to offer you our support. I am looking forward to the association prospering and the different ways in which it will keep our cultures united. May the new possibilities of a new year come to pass. Thank you very much. Arigatou Gozaimashita.
