When they earn a point for each aim, the school donates $1 to UNICEF to help in the global fight against polio eradication. Students consistently earn over 10,000 Polio Points each Academic Year.

Founded in 1997, Jerudong International School (JIS) in Brunei is recognised as one of the best international schools in Asia. JIS is a co-educational day and boarding school for students aged 2-18 years offering a British International School curriculum. Our 120-acre campus offers world-class facilities, supported by qualified teaching staff, excellent pastoral care and a wide range of co-curricular activities. At JIS, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. Our exceptional facilities, including 27 stateof-the-art science laboratories, an extensive Performing Arts Centre and music faculty, as well as art, design and technology studios enhance the learning environment. Boarding students benefit from four dedicated Boarding Houses, with two for girls and two for boys, accommodating both weekly and full boarders.

A Truly Diverse and International Community
At JIS, student wellbeing is a top priority. Every student and teacher is a member of a House, which provides a strong pastoral care system while fostering healthy competition and camaraderie.
There are sixteen Senior School Houses in total (eight girls’ Houses and eight boys’ Houses), each paired as a Sister and Brother House. In the Junior School, students are part of one of four Junior School Houses: Blue, Green, Red or Yellow.
Each House has its own leadership team, including a House Captain and Deputy Captains, as well as other students in various unique leadership positions.
Throughout the year, both Junior and Senior School students participate in a variety of House competitions and activities, from sports like football, netball and swimming, to academic challenges such as debating, quizzes and music performances. Passion for their House runs deep, and students eagerly support their peers in these endeavours.

JIS holds the prestigious Patron’s Accredited Member status by the Council for British International Schools (COBIS). JIS was given ‘Beacon Status’ for Outstanding Practice in Boarding.
Our boarding ethos and practice tie in with our School Aims. JIS has a significant number of nationalities within the boarding houses, with students coming from a range of cultural backgrounds. Some students will join or leave boarding part-way through an academic year. As a result, the major aim of boarding is to provide an environment in which all students are seen and treated as individuals, while assisting them to integrate into the boarding community, their year group and the wider school community. By creating a supportive and nurturing environment all boarding students will have the confidence to participate, a strong sense of wellbeing, think for themselves and develop leadership skills.
