Growing up in the digital age, Millennials are by far the generation that spends the most time on social networking and is considered to be the most social generation (Pew Research Center, 2014). With the rise of social media, starting a business has never been easier due to the ability to „go live“ and „go global“ simultaneously using digital platforms. Starting a business is a wish more than half of Millennials have, and a lot of them already have. Looking at the “Forbes 30 under 30” list, you will find many founders, co-founders and CEOs, all from the Millennial generation. They know that nowadays, the only necessary tools for reaching global customers is talent, Skype and the cloud. Millennials are also more enlightened and educated than previous generations. Growing up with the internet and loads of different medias, they have, since a young age, been informed about war, environmental destruction, injustice and problems in the world. As a consequence of this, Millennials are more value-driven than past generations and reject companies that are only driven and motivated by profit. Millennials want companies they purchase from and work for to practice business sustainably and behave ethically. In the future, it will be important to not only use Corporate Social Responsibility as a marketing strategy but also to successfully attract, hire and retain workforce. Employees want to feel proud of the company of which they work for. Regardless of the opinions one might have about them, the changes generated by the new generation that is starting to make an appearance imply great developments for all. Millennials are rapidly changing the nature of our workforce with the use of technology, globalization and philanthropic values and we can all expect exciting times ahead.
