10 Questions with Sam Fisk …

So, you’ve heard about our new Manager directly from Mark Searcy, but now we feel it is time you heard from the man himself. It is with our pleasure that we introduce to you, Cover4’s new Manager, Sam Fisk – and what better way to get to know him that asking him a few quick-fire questions. Read on to find out more…

1. First things first, tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Sam Fisk, I am 33 years old from Leigh-on-sea, Essex. I enjoy playing guitar, saxophone, and drums … not all at once! I also enjoy days out with my two dogs; I have a rottweiler and a miniature sausage dog.

2. You have been working in the company for a while, tell us a bit about your work journey

I began my employment with the company in 2009 at the age of 19 in our wholesale division. Over the past 13 years I have maintained my drive to learn as much as I can about both the company and the insurance industry. I believe my aptitude for learning, coupled with my aspiration to manage and lead staff, has helped me to progress to a management position within the business.

3. Who in your life do you look up to and why?

My stepfather is my biggest role model. He has been a successful business owner / director of several other businesses for many years and has always given me great life and workplace advice.

4. What are you looking forward to in this new role?

I am looking forward to working with the Cover4 team and to assist them in continuing to provide the excellent level of service to all our clients.

5. What would you say are your professional strengths? I believe my professional strengths are: my enthusiasm, the industry knowledge I have cultivated whilst working with the company, honesty, patience, and drive.

6. What motivates you, and why?

I am motivated by challenge - looking at a task and knowing it will take all my skill to achieve it but knowing that there is no greater feeling than when you do.

7. Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?

Christian Bale. His dedication to his work is something that inspires me, and his acting ability has resulted in the creation of some of my favourite fictional characters.

8. Ideal holiday destination?

An ideal holiday destination for me would be Canada, specifically areas with mountain trails and lakes. I have not been lucky enough to go there yet but it is on my bucket list.

9. What does a typical weekend look like for you?

A typical weekend for me would be firstly going out with the dogs, then afterwards perhaps going somewhere nice for lunch. Then I would spend the evening either chilling out at home or seeing some friends.

10. What is one thing you could not go a day without?

I could not go a day without a coffee. I never realised how much I rely on it until I started thinking about this question!

One last question, just for luck… Who would you want to be stranded on a desert island with?

Will Ferrell, to keep us laughing.

Get into the groove

It’s time for extravagance, glitz and all-out party as Liverpool gets ready to be centre stage for Eurovision’s 67th Song Contest on 13 May. The Liverpool Arena, on the banks of the River Mersey in the heart of the UNESCO City of Music, is now poised to welcome talent from across the continent, and beyond. For theatrical entertainment, you can look to Soho Place in London – the West End’s first new venue for more than 50 years. Or you can bag tickets for Dirty Dancing and Guys and Dolls, which return to the stage at the Dominion Theatre and The Bridge Theatre, respectively.

For all things cultural head to Manchester’s Factory International – the arts centre is set to burst into life in 2023, bringing contemporary exhibitions, creative workshops and the return of the Manchester International Festival.

Crown a King

As 6 May 2023 marks the Coronation of King Charles III, you can immerse yourself in the lives of the Royal Family, with tours and unique exhibitions at Kensington Palace, Hampton Court Palace and Buckingham Palace. Not to be missed is the chance to see the Coronation Regalia at the Tower of London, including the Imperial State Crown, worn by monarchs after their Coronation.

Get stuck into our flavours

Following on from the success of their trio of London locations, BOXPARK will open its doors in Liverpool, bringing big flavours to the iconic Baltic Triangle District. Meanwhile top-notch premium food and drink will be served up in Bristol and London Liverpool Street, as part of a brand new BOXHALL concept.

In Manchester, the urban playground Diecast is set to be an all-in-one beer hall, night market, brewery and exotic garden. Summer 2023 will see the opening of Bradford’s Darley Street Market - spanning across three floors, you can expect international flavours and all-day entertainment.

Old Brewer’s Yard in London’s Covent Garden is getting a Guinness makeover, with a brand-new microbrewery, shop and open fire kitchen with a rooftop venue all set to launch in 2023.

If you are seeking food that’s good for the planet, look to Britain’s 31 Michelin Green Star restaurants, with an updated list of Michelin starred eateries due in 2023. Awarded to eateries that combine top culinary skills with eco-friendly commitments, expect ‘no dig’ gardens, top local produce and zero-waste dining.

Out on the open trail

Having just celebrated 10 years of the Wales Coast Path, there’s no time like the present to get out and discover its 870 miles (1400km) of soaring shorelines, diverse nature and cultural hubs. From 2023, celebrate the year of Llywbrau – Wales by Trails - and discover the nations forgotten treasures and epic landscapes. Along the way, you could take the opportunity to climb aboard a traditional schooner and uncover Wales’ maritime heritage at the new Wales International Coastal Centre – opening in 2023. Once it fully launches in 2023, the England Coast Path will be the longest continuous coastal path in the world, covering 2,795 miles (4,500km). From riding the waves along the north west, to tucking into delectable Dorset crab along the Jurassic Coast – there’s plenty of fresh experiences along England’s shores.

Seek out adventure

Reach new limits at Gloucestershire’s 270 Climbing, upping Britain’s bouldering game to bring a worldclass centre filled with adrenaline-pumping activities and adventure to the country. Or take the experience underwater by grabbing a snorkel and taking a dip with stingrays, sharks and a green turtle at Plymouth’s National Marine Aquarium.

You can also indulge a love of football at London’s iconic O2 at TOCA Social, packed with interactive football spaces, foosball tables and creative foodie concoctions from a Michelin-trained chef.

Alternatively, breathe in the sea air at Brighton’s Sea Lanes. Sat on the fringes of the seafront, the outdoor swimming pool, complete with a collection of local indie traders, is set to make a splash in the city from spring 2023.

Gaze above for starry displays at Dark Skies Festivals across the whole country. The Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks join forces to bring stargazing safaris, kayaking and zip wires to the area during their festival in February. Other festivals take place in the Lake District and Northumberland

Go green

You can also use 2023 to reconnect with nature at Manchester’s natural urban haven, Castlefield Viaduct. Or take to the South Downs on two wheels to discover the South Downs Way, one of the world’s most picturesque routes according to Instagram data. Or revellers can use their best dancing skills to power Glasgow’s eco-conscious club, SWG3 – check out their events for raving bingo, gigs and club classics. While in London, weave through a colourful labyrinth of shipping containers in Camden at the UK’s first dedicated ecoconscious market, Buck Street Market. A must visit for the conscious consumer, here you can get their teeth into international vegan flavours, or pick up ethical produce from local traders.

Did you know...

you must regularly check your values under new for old cover?

At Cover4Caravans, one of the policy benefits that we are very proud of is the fact that we offer new for old cover on your touring caravan for up to 5 years and, for static caravans, up to 10 years (regardless of the number of previous owners).

This means that if you bought a caravan in 2019 and this year it is stolen or damaged so badly that it needs replacement, in the event of a successful claim, you will get your tourer / static home replaced on a new for old basis.

What you need to be very careful of is that the value stated on your policy schedule maintains the current cost of your caravan if you were to buy a new one today. The cost of new caravans fluctuates, so you need to ensure your policy always reflects the correct new for old values to guarantee you are fully covered.

Soaring caravan costs

Caravan costs soared last year due to an increased demand (as post-Covid, people turned to staycations); a lack of stock (factories were closed for a good part of 2021); plus, the price of everything has gone up, parts included.

So, if you bought your touring caravan for £16,000 4 years ago, is it still worth £16,000 - or would it cost more to replace it?

When considering the sum insured value under the new for old section of your caravan insurance, you need to think about how much it would cost to replace your caravan at today’s prices – not its resale value. Of course, the price to replace your ‘van may have actually gone down, so let your insurer know - you could save money on the cost of your caravan insurance premiums.

How to find out the current value of your ‘van

If you want to check the current value of your caravan to ensure you have the correct sum insured amount, speak to your caravan dealer – they should be able to help.

REMEMBER: In the case of new for old replacement on your caravan, in the event of a successful claim for loss or irreparable damage, you will not receive an amount more than what is stated on your policy schedule.

What our customers are saying!

‘Stunning service’

At

Cover4Caravans,

our aim is not only to find you the most suitable and cost-effective cover for your ‘van, but to provide a first-class service. Following is some genuine feedback via Feefo from some of our customers.

It has become normal to expect mediocre service nowadays, but my dealings with this company have been truly magnificent. I bought from them based on cost and cover initially. However, their services standards when it came to handling my policy set up, followed by later queries and amendments has been fantastic.

‘ Easy Company to deal with. No fuss’

Such an easy company to deal with. Compared to others especially the clubs everything was straight forward.

‘ Excellent service which is cost effective’

Easy to get a quote and speedy service on the phone with a competitive rate. Friendly staff who are knowledgeable and helpful.

‘ Easy transaction at a great price’

Excellent price. Helpful & well informed advisor who explained everything that I was unsure about. Very simple & straightforward buying experience. Will use them again.

‘ Easy online experience’

Very helpful, patient and friendly person who dealt with my queries. A fair and competitive price for the annual insurance policy for my caravan.

Easter events across the UK

It’s Easter and a time to dust off the camping gear, load up your touring caravan, and hit the open road for any number of the seasonal events held in many parts of the country at this time of the year.

Here are just some of our suggestions about places to go and things to do:

Easter egg hunts

It’s that time of year, of course, and at times you’ll feel that you just can’t move for all the Easter egg hunts wherever you go;

From an Easter Eggstravaganza at Blenheim Palace to the “biggest Easter egg hunt in the Borders” – and everywhere in between – you can join in this fine tradition in practically any part of the country;

Hever Castle Gardens

Just 30 miles or so southeast of London in the Kentish Garden of England you will find Hever Castle – where Eastertime shows off its riot of spring blooms – tulips, camellias, hyacinths, and daffodils, of course;

The Woodland Walk – adjacent to the castle gardens - opens up into a further 25 acres of open space for you to freely roam around;

Cycle trails in Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire

If you’re looking for something a little more active during your Easter holidays in the caravan, look no further than The Dukeries near Worksop in Nottinghamshire, where you’ll find charming Clumber Park; Here you can hire bicycles – or use your own if you’ve brought it – to explore more than 20 miles of trails through different terrains and landscapes;

Easter events across the UK

These are just a few of the events happening around Eastertime. But you’ll already know that Britain is a place full of variety and contrasts – and you’ll no doubt find plenty of things to see and do wherever you are taking this year’s Easter holidays.

Langdale Valley cycle trail

If you’ve still got your mountain bike strapped to the ‘van and you head off to the Lake District why not tackle the challenge of the Langdale Valley and Langdale Pikes trail near Ambleside in Cumbria?

From the slate quarries and woodlands, down along the riverside trail, stop off for refreshments at Skelwith Bridge;

Welsh Mountain Zoo

If your holiday adventures took you westwards to North Wales, a day at the zoo could be in order;

The 37 acres of the Welsh Mountain Zoo, near Colwyn Bay, will be setting up special events for the Easter period – be sure not to miss them;

MacMoray Easter Festival

North of the Border there’s more than the faint strains of music in the air at the MacMoray Easter Festival, near Elgin, Moray in Scotland; Plenty of activities for the whole family, all centred on the two large music stages with acts including the Bay City Rollers – Mums and Dads of a certain age will remember the name only too well!
