TAKING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY OUT OF THE BOX By James Morris

Introduction The world of photography is filled with endless possibilities. You can capture a moment that reveals life’s beauty, or you can create an image that speaks to people’s emotions on a deeper level. No matter what you’re looking to achieve, there are many different techniques that will help you get there. In this post, we’ll discuss some ways to take your photography out of the box and make it more enjoyable than ever!

Not all photography is created equal. It might surprise you to learn that the word “photography” encompasses a vast range of different types of images and processes. While we’re all familiar with traditional film-based photography, it’s important to know that there are also many digital options available for creating your images. Some of these include:

• • •

Digital image capture (digital cameras, smartphones) Digital processing (editing and cropping an image using a computer or smartphone) Digital output to print media like photo books or posters, as well as other products like calendars and greeting cards. If you’re looking for a way to take more photos in your life, I recommend picking up one of these digital options. They are relatively inexpensive and easy to operate.

Strive for a personal vision. The world is your canvas, and the camera your brush. To begin, you need to find what inspires you. When choosing subject matter for your photos, look for the unusual, the unexpected sights of everyday life that are often overlooked. Once you’ve found what interests or moves you emotionally or intellectually—whether it be a person or place—consider how it can fit into an existing style or genre of photography that already exists in our collective consciousness. Have fun! As you take photos and your eye becomes sharper, strive for a personal vision. Look at the world with fresh eyes and be inspired by what you find, whether it be a beautiful landscape overlooking city lights from high above or hidden away in an old warehouse loft, where sunlight filters through cracks.

Intentionally move beyond your comfort zone. Your work will always reflect who you are as an artist, but it’s also important to try new things and take risks. If you want to grow as a photographer, try something new. Move beyond your comfort zone. Take on challenges that force you to develop new skills or push yourself to create unfamiliar and unexpected images. And if this feels scary, don’t worry! A lot of great art has been created by people who felt scared or unsure at first but decided they were willing to do whatever needed to be done to make something unique. It can be difficult to put yourself out there and try new things, but that’s how you grow as an artist. So go for it!

Take advantage of the latest technology to do impressive photographic works. With the help of new technologies and editing apps, you can create images your viewers will never forget. Take advantage of these advancements to add an extra level of excitement to your work. If you want your photos to stand out from the crowd, consider using one or more of these techniques: Create a panoramic image by stitching together multiple shots of the same scene into one large-format image. This technique works well for cityscapes, landscapes, and impressive architecture shots.

Shoot in black and white rather than color to create an artistic effect that leaves viewers wondering how they would have seen these images if they were actually taking place before their eyes rather than at their computer screens (or mobile devices). The next time you’re out taking photos, try experimenting with different types of lenses. A wide-angle lens will give your images a more dramatic look, while a telephoto lens can provide greater detail and depth. You can also use software or Photoshop to add depth to images that otherwise appear flat. In addition, you can manipulate lighting to bring out details that might otherwise be lost when using only natural light.

The best art is often the most unexpected art! The best art is often the most unexpected art! As a photographer, it’s easy to get into a rut. We find an aesthetic or theme that we like and stick with it. As humans, we like what we know and what feels familiar—that’s why we’re so drawn to the same old thing all over again when shopping for clothes, furniture, and even cars. But as artists, we need to take our work outside of that box! Imagine if Picasso had never experimented with cubism or if Michelangelo had never tried chiaroscuro instead of simply relying on his traditional sculptures? The world would have missed out on some of history’s greatest masterpieces! If you’re looking for inspiration in your photography but don’t know where else to look besides landscapes and portraits (or maybe even selfies), here are three ideas: •

Take pictures of things inside your home. It’s easy to overlook the beauty of everyday objects around you (like a flower vase or a sofa). By photographing these objects, you’ll get an entirely new perspective on them and can even share it with others! * Try taking some selfies. You don’t need to take a picture of yourself every time—just when you’re feeling extra creative. Take pictures of nature! It’s easy to forget how amazing our environment can be when we’re constantly surrounded by concrete and buildings. Taking photos while hiking, camping, or even walking around in your garden will help you appreciate nature more than ever before.

Conclusion The best art is often the most unexpected art. The idea that you need to shoot what everyone else is shooting, or do things just like everyone else, is a trap that will keep you from becoming the artist you want to be. It’s okay if your photography doesn’t look exactly like anyone else’s—that’s part of what makes it unique! You might not find all these tips in other articles about how to improve your pictures; however, we hope these ideas will help inspire you as an artist and take your photos out of their traditional box.
