Inside Coverage of a Red Affair Lights! Cameras! ...GLAMOUR! Introducing Wallenberg‟s Junior and Senior Prom of 2011. This years‟ theme of a Red Carpet Affair incorporated many aspects of Hollywood dazzle and celebrity fame.

A Glimpse into Glamour

“Most glorious night! Thou wert not sent for slumber!” ~Lord Byron,

Wallenberg‟s 2011 Prom took place at the Hyatt, closest to Fisherman‟s Wharf, on 555 North Point Street. The dance began at 8:00pm until 11:15pm. Prom Committee members arrived earlier before guests to help set up for a dazzling night at the Hyatt. Around 8:10, guests began strolling in to the checkin lobby and eventually making their way onto the dance floor.

Catering the needs Among the dishes of fresh veggies and spinach ranch dip, guests at the dance were given the cultivated delicacies of fresh strawberries and an endless supply of chocolate fondue. The „soda-bar‟ provided unlimited refills of bubbling

refreshments, as well as water, for individuals and on going dancers needing to be re-energized and replenished. Along with healthier snack options were the sugary opponents of cookies and marshmallows, for those with a sweet-tooth.

Dancing to the Beat of the Ballroom Its not enough to say “I can‟t dance” anymore. It‟s more of downing your pride and accepting that fact, all the while grooving with your friends anyway. To sincerely enjoy yourself on the dance floor is not necessarily to know how to dance, but rather be accompanied by those around you who will dance with you. Give yourself space and enjoy the music. :) It is better to share with friends. The following quotes in the next column may help shed the fear of judgments on the dance floor. With that much said, the prom was an enormous success. If the dance room was empty at any point in the beginning, I can assure you that towards the end of the night, no one wanted to part from the DJ.

“There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good.” ~Edwin Denby “We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance.” ~Japanese Proverb “Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.” ~Dave Barry “To watch us dance is to hear our hearts speak.” ~Hopi Indian Saying

A Paparazzi’s Moment Gather your gals and strike a classy pose. Get the guys together for a gentlemens‟ photo. Which ever it may be, there will always be those moments in time, where you need a paparazzi handy for those group photos. Whether it be a friendly bystander, or a professional photographer, without the generous help of an extra person, how could we capture those moments in time where everyone looks just right — or did I forget to smile?

The Selective Singles Being single should never be the only reason a person can‟t or shouldn‟t go to prom, or any occasion for that matter! Although it helps to have a partner or some friends by your side, its been known that singles find their way and mingle in many situations and events. Besides using a relationship status as an excuse, use it to your advantage! Being single gives other singles a chance to get to know you better and potentially “hook up”. Not to encourage any polygamous intentions, but instead to encourage confidence in accepting being currently single and not letting it hinder or be the cause of not attending any particular social events. Unless otherwise stated that an event must require a date, for the most part, it is still admirable for singles to make their way onto the dance floor and mingle with

other individuals with friendly charm and confidence. Another popular alternative for attending events is going with friends — preferably a large group, They say the more the merrier, and that may be true is many cases! To have the support of your fellow mates is always a reassuring feelings when going out to have a good time and enjoy yourself with the company of those you cherish.

Dijon & Anthony Torres stand proud as singles at prom.

A Classic Couple Prom can be one of the most romantic experiences for couples in high school. Keeping in mind the classic nature of such a formal event, everyone is dressed to impress! It is such a dazzling scene to see well dressed young adults attend prom and enjoy their last dance together before graduation. The time of childhood is over and teenage years are about to wrap up. Soon, couples and individuals a-like will be faced with the choices that young adults must face. But have no fear, if you are fortunate enough to have the

hand of your partner with you, it doesn‟t seem so bad. Together you shall stand, and make it through. Only you can face the challenges together, in an attempt to find the simple pleasures in life, through college and work — “till death do us (we) part”. Or perhaps it‟s still too soon for that. Non-the-less, it is still refreshing to see a young modest couple. Together they shall walk down the red carpet isle leading to the moments that will become a part of their high school memories together.

“A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double.” ~Toni Morrison “If you don't understand how a woman could both love her sister dearly and want to wring her neck at the same time, then you were probably an only child..” ~Linda Sunshine

Sisterly Snapshots ! Moments in time at prom, where a photo is taken with your friend or best friend, and you swear — you two could have been sisters. Cherish the moments and cherish the people.
