Roslyn Hosts Grand Opening

ikram Yoga Roslyn’s ribbon cutting was held on the beautiful Saturday morning of Oct. 26 and setting the tone of the event were musical performances by the students of Frank Ferrara. Jeff Schwartzberg, mayor of Roslyn Estates, stated that this was his first ribbon cutting and he was thrilled to welcome Bikram Yoga Roslyn and to see the revitalization of a building that has stood unoccupied for more than two years. Not only was he pleased to have the building occupied, he said, but also that Bikram Yoga was bringing health and wellness services to the community. Mayor Schwartzberg and his wife Rita were joined by the Roslyn Chamber of Commerce, including Jerry Baldasarro, Vito Ditrapani and Barbara Kaplan, who officiated the ribbon cutting.

A poetry reading by Victoria Crosby, Glen Cove’s poet laureate and poet laureate of the Daughters of the British Empire, capped off the outdoor event. Ms. Crosby’s poetry featured pieces dedicated to meditation, peace and health. Her inspirational and humorous poetry can often be found in 25A magazine, for which she is also a features writer. Additionally, Ms. Crosby is a reporter for The Leader. Following the outdoor festivities the crowd was ushered into the studio for a Bikram Yoga posture demonstration, followed by two free classes. In addition, new wellness services were introduced and the audience at the ribbon cutting was treated to complimentary facials, massages, reflexology and bio-mat meditation.
