Doug & Pat Ralls Share the Dangers of Distracted Driving and Their Personal Faith Story Special Presentation today, September 1, 9:45 am, Haney Hall On October 28, 2009 long-time BUMC members Doug and Pat Ralls lost their son Brian in a traffic crash caused by someone using their cell phone. Since that time, they have been tireless activists, sharing their personal story, the facts about the dangers of distracted driving, and how their faith has sustained them. On September 1, they will share their story with us. All individuals and Sunday School classes are invited to attend. Please join Doug and Pat to hear this powerful and important message. Stephen Ministry Information Session Sunday, September 8, 9:40 or 10:30, Parlor Do you have a caring heart and a listening ear? Maybe Stephen Ministry, a program of one-on-one Christian care provided by trained laypersons, is the right ministry for you. A new training class begins in October. Grief Support Group Begins September 19 Thursdays, 5:30 - 7:00 pm Alive Hospice will be hosting an 8-week Grief Support group at BUMC beginning September 19 through November 7th. This group will be professionally facilitated and is appropriate for anyone who has experienced the loss of a parent, spouse, sibling, child or other loved one. $40 fee, but this may be waived if needed. Parenting with Love and Logic Workshop Sundays, September 8 – October 6, 5 – 7 pm Learn techniques to create a respectful, healthy relationship with your children and to prepare them for the real world. Volunteer Opportunities Ways to Serve in Worship Chancel Choir Kickoff Fall rehearsals begin this Wednesday, September 4, with one important time change: rehearsals are 7:00-8:30 pm each Wednesday. We anticipate a season filled with great music and fellowship, as we serve Christ, the church and each other through our leadership in worship. Student Ministry Small Group Leader We are in need of more small group leaders to mentor, teach, and build relationships with our teenagers. Training and curriculum provided. Leaders facilitate the conversation and build community and accountability. Groups meet on Sunday nights and are divided by grade and gender. Safe Haven Family Shelter Safe Haven Family Shelter is a BUMC partner ministry, is one of the only programs in Nashville focused on ending family homelessness through proven educational techniques.
