Scenes Young Israel Thanks Local Heroes on Thanksgiving Through its Annual Thanksgiving ‘Pies for Our Guys’ program, members made shul-made pies and ‘Thank You’ cards to express appreciation for local firefighters, police officers, and Sheriff’s deputies. A parade of 50 adults and children drove from the shul to Fire Station 21 where the firefighters were standing waving and flashing the lights of three fire engines. Rabbi Males and his wife, Layala, delivered more pies to Memphis Police Department officers stationed on Appling Farms Parkway and deputies of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Arlington.
