Congrgation Shir Chadash

Since the early 1950’s the Synagogue known as Congregation Shir Chadash has offered a religious home to generations of area Jews. Founded by some of the Jewish developers of Lakewood, it has seen generations of births, deaths, weddings, B’ney Mitzvahs, Jewish holidays, religious services, and much more. Love, laughter, and too many noshes have been celebrated here but the time to say goodbye has come. Sadly, the building that has shared itself with the community under the names of Temple Beth El, Temple Sinai, Temple Zion, Temple Beth Zion-Sinai and lastly Congregation Shir Chadash is closing its doors. If you have memorial plaques gracing the walls of the temple and would like to come to claim them, please call the office at 562.429.0715 and let Carol know when you can come in to get them. It is also hoped that you will come by during Shabbat services to worship with us one last time before we close our doors permanently in mid-July.

The NCJW Greater Long Beach and W. Orange County Board had their installation during Charter Day, June 25, at Temple Beth Shalom, Long Beach, and will have their new Board Orientation on July 30, at 9:00 am at the Alpert JCC on the Weinberg Jewish Long Beach Campus. Members are encouraged to join us!
