ChayaLeah Sufrin is named to Hadassah’s 18 Zionist Women to Know!

Long Beach Hillel’s Executive Director, ChayaLeah Sufrin, was recently named to Hadassah’s inaugural class of 18 Zionist Women to Know! This honor is part of Hadassah’s celebration of Israel’s 75th birthday, recognizing the female movers and shakers that continue to breathe new life into Zionism and Israel, around the world, and in communities like ours. The 18 visionary, determined women on our list are doing essential work, individually and collectively,” said Hadassah CEO Naomi Adler. “They are educating Jews and non-Jews about what Zionism is and is not and advocating for Zionism in the US and around the world. Everyone who cares about Israel should know their names.”

Among the other 18 women recognized is the host of Jeopardy!, Mayim Bialik, executive editor of Jewish Insider, Melissa Weiss, and industry leaders across journalism, academia, acting and other fields. ChayaLeah is a graduate of Jewish Long Beach’s Alpert New Leaders Forum, an active member of the Long Beach Kehillah Leadership Council, a consistent volunteer at Jewish Long Beach & Alpert JCC, and extremely generous with her time and expertise. Hadassah describes her as an educator and community builder, which perfectly encapsulates the ruach, spirit, she brings to everything she is involved in. Being a Jewish professional on a university campus is not always easy, yet ChayaLeah is never afraid to have tough conversations about the issues facing Israel and the Jewish people at large. She has a long track record of leading inspiring missions to Israel for young Jews and non-Jewish students, fostering a better future for the next generation of Zionists. ChayaLeah continues to study and learn at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem.

ChayaLeah also cohosts the podcast Ask a Jew, which covers culture, politics, humor, and life. Family is everything to ChayaLeah, who is married to Boruch Sufrin and has four sons. On behalf of the greater Long Beach Jewish community, we wish her a Yasher Koach on this remarkable accomplishment and recognition.
