LA GOLONDRINA Y EL LINO

Problema: el problema del conde Lucanor era que no sabe si es conveniente ser muy precavido.

Resumen: la historia trata de una golondrina que vio a un hombre plantar lino. La golondrina voló y les informó a los pájaros, pero ellos se hacían muchas preguntas, ¿qué daños nos va a causar? La golondrina les dijo que cuando el lino13 creciera, el hombre haría lazos y redes14 para cazarlos15 y por eso quiere arrancar el lino antes de que fuera más tarde. Los pájaros no hicieron ni caso y le ignoraron. La golondrina decidió ser astuta para salvarse y le dijo al hombre que era muy bondadoso y le pidió que la protegiera. El hombre la protegió y cuando creció el lino, los pájaros vieron que la golondrina tenía razón y por no ser tan inteligentes cayeron en las redes y lazos.

Enseñanza: siempre hay que ser astutos y prudentes y nunca ignorar a la gente que te dice que estás en peligro.

13 Lino: en la edad media, la tela que más se utilizaba era el lino. La ropa interior que llevaban era de esa tela. 14 Redes: en la edad media, las redes y también los lazos, se utilizaban para cazar a las aves.

15 Cazarlos: en la edad media, la caza se practicaba en el monte, cazaban a los jabalíes y a los osos.

Tropa: grupo muy numeroso de personas o animales.

Lino: planta herbácea de tallo recto y hueco.

Arreciar: hacerse cada vez más recia o violenta.

THE SWALLOW AND THE FLAX

Problem: Count Lucanor's problem was that he doesn't know if it is convenient to be very cautious.

Summary: The story is about a swallow who saw a man plant linen. The swallow flew and informed the birds, but they asked themselves many questions, what damage will it cause us? The swallow told them that when the flax grew, the man would make ties and nets to hunt them and so he wanted to pluck the flax before it was later. The birds ignored him. The swallow decided to be clever to save herself and told the man that he was very kind and asked him to protect her. The man protected her and when the linen grew, the birds saw that the swallow was right and for not being so intelligent they fell into the nets and ties.

Teaching: Always be cunning and prudent and never ignore people who tell you that you are in danger.
