Dennis G. Landin, Sr. ’76

Paul Chitwood passed away Apr. 21, 2010. Born Jan. 27, 1944, he graduated from Jesuit High School and served in the U.S. Army as a pilot, achieving the rank of captain. An avid Scrabble player, he was ranked in 2009 by the National Scrabble Association.

Jack Daniel passed away Jan. 2, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. Jack was a poverty law and civil rights attorney with Central California Legal Services. Known for his work with several legal aid organizations, he defended the poor, the mentally ill, children and farmworkers. He died at his home in Laton, CA with family at his side.

Dennis Landin, Sr. passed away Apr. 1, 2010. A longtime employee at Mercado Juarez restaurant in Dallas, he enjoyed his time at Jesuit and had a particular fondness for Fr. Pat Koch, S.J., the principal at Jesuit when Dennis was a student at the school. It was because of this relationship that Dennis was so dedicated to having his sons’ attend his alma mater.

H. Norman Bockemehl, Sr. ’64 Norman Bockemehl passed away Apr. 15, 2010. Born and raised in Dallas, he attended St. Augustine School and graduated from Jesuit High School. Following in his father’s footsteps, Norm worked for Halliburton for over 30 years. After retirement, he opened “Norm’s Photography,” his own photography studio, and was currently employed by DNS Tool as a machinist and shop foreman.

Robert J. Jennings ’65 Bob Jennings passed away Dec. 4, 2009 following a long battle with cancer and heart disease. He was born in Dallas, the son of William and Elizabeth Jennings. He attended St. Pius X Catholic School, Jesuit High School and was a graduate of St. Louis University. Bob began his teaching career at St. Rita Catholic School in Dallas and later pursued a career in the insurance industry. After retirement, he returned to teaching.

Joseph F. Coerver ’68 Joe Frank Coerver was born in Dallas on Nov. 8, 1949 to Mildred and Marion Coerver. He graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School, Northwestern University and University of Texas Law School. He loved sharing in his children’s activities, participating in his church as a lay reader, and his love for music lasted throughout his life.

Michael D. Roberts ’93 Michael Roberts was born July 23, 1974 in St. Louis, MO, to Jack and Barbara Roberts. A beloved son and brother, he passed away Dec. 24, 2009. A graduate of Jesuit Dallas, he received his BS from Texas Tech University # He was an avid music lover and enjoyed being physically active. Mike liked telling stories, never met a stranger and was a friend to many.

John Mark Knight ’73 Mark Knight, of Goshen, NY, died Mar. 11, 2010 at his home. He was 55 years old. Mark was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late John F. and Marilyn (Rockefeller) Knight. He served honorably in the Marine Corps and was a member of the New York City Police Department for over 20 years, retiring as a sergeant.

Federico Garcia ’03 Federico Garcia passed away Nov. 3, 2009 in Denton, TX. While at Jesuit, he was a 4-year member of the soccer team and Latinos Unidos. He is survived by parents, Federico and Sylvia Garcia.
