Buddhism: Where? Buddism was developed in India at a time when Hinduism, the most widespread religion in India, had become tightly controlled by priests and the upper classes. Buddhism offered hope and access to spiritual understanding and satisfaction to ordinary people. It’s influence in India since then has significantly deliced, however has adherents around the world, because of both immigration and conversions. It is currently practiced mainly in Southeast Asia and it’s surrounding areas shown on the map.
