This adaptive re-use study of the Motorola Building in Harvard Illinois, is intended to revitalize the community as well as surrounding communities. Revitalizing the housing market in the area would also be ideal. The city will also seek the revitalization of commercial areas outside the downtown area. The closing of the Motorola left 5,000 people without jobs, being able to replenish those jobs would bring opportunities to many. Motorola was a telecommunications company that held its regional headquarters in the Harvard Motorola building. With the decline of technology in the early 2000’s, Motorola was forced to downsize and closed the doors to this facility in 2003.
