My name is Jessica Taig. I have a Degree in Architecture (5 year) and I am a Professional Licensed Architect. While at university I focused my attention on projects of different scales. I worked in several fields such as residential buildings, interior design, schools, public spaces, facilities for the community, museums, town planning, infrastuctures and landscaping. Thanks to this experience I had the possibility to learn how to use different software such as Autocad (2D and 3D modeling), Revit Architecture for 3D modeling, Photoshop and Illustrator. I am willing to learn new programs that may be useful for my career and help me explore the world of design, modeling, post production and computer graphics that will benefit my professional growth. In addition to my academic qualification I have participated in an international exhibition called “Sustainable Futures for a Mediterranean City – Green Line: Palermo 2019 – Recycle City: Trapani 2020 – Effect Event: Marseilles 2030”, which took place in Marseilles in 2014 where my personal work was displayed. In 2017 I have taken part in the Young Architect Competition “Experiential Beer Garten” in Castel Maggiore (BO) as well as an architectural workshop “Future lights for a volcanic landscape” in Lipari, Eolian Islands, September 2016. I obtained a certificate in Revit Architecture 2017 – Standard Module at Eureka Engineering srl, Palermo (Autodesk Authorized Training Centre). I am currently working at UFO - Urban Future Organization (Italy) in an internship as an Architect. I am required to collaborate in designing architectural plans and create 3D models of both exterior/interior projects using Revit plus post production with Photoshop. I possess a high degree of attention to detail. I am very organized, enthusiastic and motivated. I also have excellent communication skills and enjoy interacting with others as a team member. I am a hard working person and respect deadlines. I believe that I would make a positive addition to your team. The work was born as a criticism of a series of interventions planned within the Masterplan Euromed II for the city of Marseilles, as part of the EuromĂŠditerranĂŠe project. The project includes the park boundaries as foreseen by the Masterplan Euromed II and the annexation of the existing train station, through the remodeling of its spatial configuration. The project, for the most part hypogeum, redefines the boundaries of the park by inserting new trees, giving it a more homogeneous overall image. On the other hand it acts as a filter between the park and the existing train station with the insertion of new functions. It is the centre for art labs, cooking classes, music sessions and a market for organic products and plants. It offers new metropolitan connections to the station, as well as sports facilities and the like. Through circular pedestrian ramps you can access the centre from the adjacent streets and from the park level, so that you can enjoy the beautiful view of the park from each covered level. The goal of the project is to be an incubator of local neighborhood activities and services, as well as being a meeting place that offers a variety of functions for a mixed public.

The aim of the work is to criticize a series of interventions planned within the Masterplan Euromed II for the city of Marseilles, within the EuromĂŠditerranĂŠe project. The team project includes a series of architectural volumes interacting with one another as well as a park that acts as a link between these volumes and the rest of the city. Urban and pedestrian paths, squares and facilities are to be found there. The project, in the specific case, concerns the creation of a hotel. It consists of two adjacent circular elements (of two different dimensions) which generate the development of the entire volume in height. The element with the largest diameter is intended for guest rooms (travelers, tourists, etc.); the one with the smaller diameter, however, is intended to accommodate various suites to be used as residential units. The circular element is also found in the curvilinear walkway leading to level -1, where the main entrance is located, from which you can enter a double height hall, a spa enclosed by glass walls and a gym. In the upper levels there are rooms and suites, while in the lowest level there is a conference room and a restaurant where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding park and areas. 7

The development of the project resulted in a careful study of the design area and its relationship with the pre-existing architectural elements including the ex-locomotive depot of Sant’Erasmo, Palermo. The desire to relate to the latter has led to placing the various volumes around the square linking the ex-locomotive depot like the design of a church, in order to create glimpses and visuals that could frame it or progressively reveal it. The first stage was based on creating a volleyball court, giving the idea of a "city" that is discovered by walking around it or across it. The project develops along a first volume, placed perpendicular to the input axis leading to the circular structure. There is also an external access to the lobby and a secondary entrance directly into a showroom and extending along the entire length of the structure. The second entrance is the one that leads directly into the ex-locomotive depot, where classrooms and laboratories are arranged in radial form. The layout of the inputs has been imposed by the existence of a piezometric tower, which has been maintained as a manifesto of a past memory.

The intervention is within the historic centre of Palermo and the project is to complete a defined building. The area in front of the building is currently used for parking and is to be reconsidered as a pedestrian zone. The building houses a student residence and consists of a series of suspended volumes linked together by a central element in which there is the staircase, while a fully glazed parallelepiped encloses the entire building. The ground floor is accessible to everyone. It is directly connected to the surrounding square and includes an indoor cafĂŠ . On the upper floors there are larger student housing, while the volume in front of the square houses a library. Finally, the volume of the staircase gives access to a viewing platform from which you can admire a good part of the city's historic centre.

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN_2013_ONE-FAMILY HOME_DUBAI

The project is a one-family home and is located near a waterway along the desert connecting Dubai with Abu Dhabi. The house is structured on two levels and is lifted from the ground by a stand in order to prevent rising moisture. There is a prayer area (covered by a small dome) facing Mecca, as well as a Hammam (turkish bath). To overcome the problem of high temperatures reached in the desert climate, a traditional ‘wind tower’ has been inserted. Through the connection to the first underground water tank from which an air duct starts, the ‘wind tower’ allows the interior cooling of the rooms, resulting in recirculation of air coming from the outside to the inside. The interior and exterior masonry were built on raw ground using Adobe's constructive method. The vertical walls and the floors have an insulator made of linen and coconut panels. The pavements are made up of a special ceramic called Bio-Pura.

The museum is located within a former industrial building. The museum illustrates the life of Egyptian queen Hatshepsut through various spatial sequences. An illustrative itinerary allows you to follow the history, habits and the management of the queen’s empire through multimedia panels, short films and archaeological finds. In addition, two rooms have been reconstructed: the Red Chapel, located within a temple erected during her empire; and the funeral temple where the queen was actually buried. Finally, there is a ticket office and a bookshop accessible from within and outside the museum.

Every design choice, both relating to materials and technologies, results from the analysis of the current state of the factory. By introducing so many spatial variables, the complexity of the architecture will promote an unstable, open programming, where spaces for diverse activities will benefit from each other’s challenges. The different activities hosted by this building will coexist beneath the umbrella of a single space, facilitating communication between all users in a common interior landscape. The bridge-building is quite simple in its design shape. It is supported by two blocks at the far end – one contains the elevator, the other one a ramp – and by a series of steel pillars organized in a regular grid. The volume designed with a modular elements by 3d printing ‘floats’ in vacuum, leaving the free floor plan to access the existing building. There is no difference between structure and envelope, neither between roof and walls. It is an isotropic material in both conception and construction.
