HOK Skyscraper
Downtown St. Louis, Missouri
Professor Josef Stagg - Studio 615 Spring 2014 Project: Located in Downtown St. Louis and adjacent to the Gateway Arch, designers partnered with HOK, based out of St. Louis, Missouri. Program: 750,000 sq ft of business rental area, 5 star podium restaurant. Objective: Use adjacent views of St. Louis landmarks and wind impact data for site condition to establish tower angles and vantages. Additional: Director of Design, Ripley Rasmus of HOK, partnered with designers and provided feedback during design process.

Overall Site Plan
Designers were tasked with creating a skyscraper for downtown St. Louis in Missouri. The tower would provide the downtown with much needed , high class office space for the area. St. Louis is seeing major development along the Mississippi river near downtown and along the Market Street Corridor. Projects like the Gateway Arch Project and Ballpark Village are two examples of projects intended to vitalize the downtown area.

Associate Professor Chris Cornelius Studio 420 Spring 2013 Project: Designers were tasked with creating a musical center in the historic Bronzeville Neighborhood of Milwaukee. Program: Music studios, small theater holding 150 or less, large theater seating 300 min, Public cafe. Objective: Create a theater space open to a elevated courtyard beyond that can be visible to patrons inside the theater. Model Progression

Associate Professor James Shields & Darren Hoppa Studio 410 - Fall 2012 Project: Located on the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Campus, designers were tasked with creating new student dorms. Program: Dorms and Suites for 500 students. Green space must be provided on site for residents. Common Areas on every floor. Objective: Limit shadow impact on neighboring homes. Continue existing green spaces and green space corridors located on adjacent campus properties.

Hip Hop Museum - Brooklyn, NY Brooklyn , New York
Associate Professor Chris Cornelius Studio 636 - Fall 2013 Project: Students derived forms from the interpretation of hip hop music from the genres “Golden Era” (1980’s-1990’s). Using methods and filters to analyze hip hop music, designers than used forms derived from listening exercises to create schematic drawings that than lead to spatial applications from drawing forms. Program: Studios, gallery space, green outdoor space, theater for small concerts Objective: Create a hip hop museum distinct to the Brooklyn skyline. Use “love & hate” as a organizational tool to separate program.

Associate Professor James Shields & Darren Hoppa Studio 636 Fall 2012 Project: Create a public market for the East side of Milwaukee on Milwaukee’s historical Brady Street. Program: Market stall area indoor and outdoor. Private rooms for events & a public green space, any size. Objective: Locate the program on side of the site to provide a outdoor area along Brady Street for public use throughout the year.

Project: Transform the K-Mart Site in South Minneapolis into a Velodrome and Cycling Center for the Midwest. Program: Olympic Sized Velodrome, Locker Rooms, Optional Program: Low Income Cyclist Housing Objective: Connect to the Greenway Bike Path, extend the Greenway into the site and create a processional experience with views of downtown.
