INTRODUCTION
For almost two years I’ve had this dream of putting together a Carmen Miranda bridal inspired shoot. I brought the idea up to a few people and I could tell they thought I was nuts. No one seemed to understand my love for this woman. That was until I met Amy and Dianna. Not only did they share my passion but they wanted to be a part of bringing this shoot to life. I felt like the luckiest girl ever! I’m grateful for everyone involved; For believing in my crazy vision, dedicating their time and trecking all the way to Palm Springs to make this thing happen. My tropical vintage dream has been realized and I can’t wait to have more! Thank you!!
THE WOMAN. THE LEGEND. CARMEN MIRANDA
People often ask me why I love this woman. I reply by saying “have you seen her perform??” Carmen has a vibrant character that lights up the stage. She’s often noted for her eccentic style and most notable for wearing a fruit basket on her head. Hey, not many people can pull off dancing with a fruit basket on their head and still manage to look fabulous. I know I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The minimalist might look at her and cringe. I look at her and admire her character. She was so full of life! I dare you to watch her perform and not have a smile on your face. I’d love to spend an afternoon with that woman. For this bridal shoot, I wanted to create a whimsical tropical vintage oasis. I experimented with mixed prints to showcase Carmens eccentric sensability with bright colors for her vibrant persona. I focused on 3 looks. The engagement period, a more traditional look for the ceremony and her spicy reception outfit in which she would perform for her loved ones. Hope you enjoy!
