Power in the Name of Jesus

which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (vv.17-18). We are free to be fully in the Lord’s presence. Rather than fading away, what is the glory on our faces doing? The phrase Paul uses to describe our life is this: “with ever-increasing glory.” Why? The glory being produced in our lives is in us, not just on us. It “comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” The Lord of Glory Himself is resident in us, so the glory in our lives is coming directly from Him. It is not transitory and fading. “And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!” (2 Corinthians 3:11).

As you study the I Am declarations of Jesus and see how He fleshed out each declaration, you will behold His glory. You will see that the very same God whose Word caused Moses’ face to shine came to earth in the form of a man to reveal grace and truth.

“In the beginning was the Word.” “The Word became flesh.” “The Word was with God.” “The Word . . . made his dwelling among us.” “The Word was God.” “The Word became flesh. . . . We have seen his glory.”

The very Word of the Lord through whom creation came, now came to redeem His creation. He came to restore what sin had destroyed. Every miracle He performs is a miracle of restoration. Every word He utters is a word of restoration. He spoke everything into being at the beginning and only He can restore that which He created.
