En la vista hexadecimal de la Figura 4-8 puede observarse en detalle el elemento de dato codificado como parte de un archivo de imagen DICOM. Se observa que el valor de representación es “CS” correspondiente a una cadena de caracteres “MR”. Esta es la forma como una aplicación lee por ejemplo un archivo DICOM el cual tiene contenida no solamente la información sino también las directivas para leerla e interpretarla. Si se entra en suficiente detalle, pueden identificarse los objetos de información que componen dicho archivo.
