EDUCATION & RESEARCH CENTER
The Richland Creek Reservoir is a reservoir in the northern portion, of the U.S. state of Georgia, in the city of Dallas. It will be primarily fed by a raw water pipeline from the Etowah River. It is a new 305-acre pumped-storage reservoir, dam, water treatment plant, two major pump stations, and over 20 miles of pipelines in order to meet future water demands. The purpose of this master plan and basis of design effort was to develop a concept level treatment approach, site layout for major structures, construction phasing plan, and an opinion of probable construction cost for the future water treatment plant.
Inspired by leaves and the King’s Haistreak, the concept behind the center is to have structure that revolves around a center point as well something that has a sense of fragility and transparency. Furthermore, as a butterfly and leave have a sort of spine that connects everything, the circulation in the building is made up of a single hallway that will lead to all the spaces inside.
