Every day . . Smiles, cuddles, tears (from time to time), laughter, squeels, inside voices, outside voices, singing, listening, talking, happy, sad, anxious, tired, hungry, relaxed. All this we have felt, expressed, & developed. Soooooo Much......

Traffic Day They came in all shapes and sizes - the children and their vehicles. Bicycles, uni-cycles, and scooters. On-campus and offcampus, skills were practiced everywhere. Traffic rules and regulations reviewed and adhered to. Speed demons & careful cats. A week full of educational activities and lots of FUN !

No matter the day, no matter the time... one (but often more) of the members of this dynamic group of parents will be somewhere on campus... meeting (pleasantly loud), organizing, or working. Due to their tireless efforts the staff feels appreciated throughout the year, elementary students have a variety of after-school activities to choose from, meeting for coffee becomes an event, funds are raised to further enhance the educational experience at AIS, each Grade has a â&#x20AC;&#x153;Momâ&#x20AC;? and the social calender can count on an exceptional variety of annual festivities. A full schedule of home games, throughout the year, translates into one thing for these amazing ladies. WORK (and lots of it). The New Gym Cafeteria is their home base from which they insure that everyone in attendance at games is well provided for. Supported by an army of atheletesâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; moms, food is prepared, beverages are stocked, snacks & fruit are made available - all for purchase. Their aim: provide AIS athletes & coaches with uniforms & other supplements to enhance the Athletics Program. Volunteers, all of them, their contribution to the social fabric of the school is immeasurable.

We Performed

Honor Choir Womanâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Choir, Mixed Choir, Concert Band, pianists, conductors, students and music directors from 47 schools met in Dubai 1417 March for the Honour Choir and Band Festival and had an AMAZING musical experience! One of the main pieces of music that was presented was an Arabic Folk Song Suite that was especially commissioned for the event and performed by the 2 choirs (200 voices) and the band (80 instrumentalists) as the Concert Finale. Cameron Buckmaster (G11) attended representing AIS and was accompanied by Ms. Dianne Pritchett.

The f irst thing I can remember about existence was a small school of gold f ish in a pond with ballet dancing lilies while retro style pagers buzzed away quietly in the distance, or at least a distance for my size. The f irst face I can remember was my dad with his immense framed panels for dimming the sun, likewise of what those eco friendly hippies would use today on their roves. I also remember wearing a cotton or wool fabric on my head while waddling through sterilized hallways of milky green. Turning a skew right, I saw a woman with locks of maple and summer freckles on a bed with a creature of some kind in her arms. No better point in my life to begin cognition than in the hospital after the birth of my brother. My father, my mother, my brother, and I, the four of us in that room, at that point, I’d have to say life truly began there. Fast forward by almost two decades and here I am - in Belgium. Having spent nearly two years here, I can, surprisingly, say that I’ve taken up a new way of living. Everything was just so eye opening and all the people I’ve met here have been so wonderful. Too many to name but if you’re one of them and reading this then I have these few things to say to all of you. Get famous and meet a lot of hot guys, always go eat at a fancy restaurant, spaciba! And f inally, stop stressing about the little things and stop going to the gym so much, you look perfect! These people, they keep me sane, and its gonna be hard without them. So many great memories crammed into 2 years and its magnif icent! To my family, I guess all I can say is that once I go off to university then there wont be anyone to keep things classy at home. Family: First of all I would like to thank but also congratulate my parents, who have carried out and hopefully succeeded a very important task, the education of their eldest son. They have been there for me throughout my life, and have never given up, and for that I respect them. I thank my mother, who has never doubted me of my capabilities and has inspired me into becoming who I am. As a wife living four thousand miles away from her husband, she has been able to raise three diff icult children while developing her own business, and for that I can say that I am proud of being her son. My father, whose career fascinates me, has persuaded me into following his steps. What he has taught me during the past eighteen years is incredible and I appreciate him for that. Marie and Yaelle, I think it is safe to say that we did not have a usual youth, we have travelled all around the world, and the only thing that has kept us so strong is our love for each other and the bond we have. Believe it or not, I would not have been capable of leaving places if it wasn’t for you two. Marie I know we had a lot of f ights but by the end of the day, we still care for each other. Yaelle I will always adore you, I have shared momen ts of sadness and happiness with you that are unforgettable, just be careful with boys and good luck with your studies! It is overwhelming to try and think of all the people who have come and gone in my life. Some have stayed with me, no matter how far apart time has taken us. Some have taught me a little bit about who I am, and who I want to be. But the most important are those who have never left my side, asking nothing more but to walk beside them. Eighteen extraordinary years have ultimately taught me three things: good friendship is when it’s not an effort to make an effort, understanding is knowing there’s a lot more to learn, and loving someone so much it hurts is the best pain to have. This second home has introduced me to people I cannot imagine life without. I have been taught by patient and encouraging teachers, who have gifted me with a foundation of knowledge that is unique to their invaluable abilities. They gave me conf idence by believing in me, and showed me that I could believe in them. Thank you. I have found exceptional friends, and with them, made unforgettable memories. A good friend once wrote that ‘looking in the mirror is like looking at your friends through a frosted glass’. If this is the case, I am truly lucky to have met and conf ided in such brilliant people. They have shown me that the heart is inf inite, and that true love is limitless. To those who fear the transition between their own culture and intern ational environment AIS is the best place to get it over with. Really, there is no better place to learn more about other cultures and keeping your own at the same time. The atmosphere is very welcoming and no doubt I will miss it. Now, by going back to my country I feel that some piece of my heart will stay here,

in Belgium. AIS teachers really are the professionals and they will do everyth ing to help you to succeed. The only important thing is to plan and manage your time, and the rest will be f ine.

Michael O’Regan To AIS: Coming from 3 different high schools prior to arriving at AIS I had expected the same monotonous routine I encountered at each previous place. I’m glad this time around it was not that case. AIS has truly brought me a unique experience I don’t really think I could have gotten anywhere else. The teachers are extremely supportive and I’ve really found that to be one of my favorite things about this school. I’ve really enjoyed having each of my teachers and I’d like to extend my thanks to each of them. I arrived late in AIS because of coming from an international school in Dubai. The students in AIS were very friendly and helped me with everything. I had problem s with math and accessing the vle, Ahalya helped me with these struggles and so I could find my way in AIS a bit faster. The teachers were very helping as well. For biology I had a big struggle with remembering all the information and understanding the biology terms used in class. Miss Helness took me apart and gave me advise on how I can improve my grades and how I should study for biology. She was not the only teacher that supported me, all teachers that toughed me did. Dr. Underwood and Dr. Santwade guided me in the school the first few weeks and kept a close eye on me so that they could spot a problem right at the beginning. Because of their good monitoring I got more and more motivated because I felt that I had the full suppor t and believe from the AIS staff. Antwerp International School was a short but very intense and wonderful experience.
