P. Kenneth Brownstein Lectureship
The P. Kenneth Brownstein Lectureship is held annually in honor of Dr. Ken Brownstein, who is Clinical Assistant Professor of Urology and The Harold A. Honickman Physician Director of Jefferson Signature Services. He is a graduate of Hahnemann University School of Medicine (Now Drexel University College of Medicine). Dr. Brownstein began his Urology residency in 1972 and has been at Jefferson ever since. The first Brownstein Lectureship was held in 2012 in recognition of his long-time service to Jefferson.

Michael S. Cookson, MD, is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Urology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and holds the Donald D. Albers Endowed Chair in Urology. He also serves as the Chief Surgical Officer for OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, a resident at the U.T. San Antonio, and a Urologic Oncology Fellowship at MSKCC. He received a Master’s in Health Care Management from Vanderbilt. Focusing on oncology and education, he has led efforts in integration of EBM in clinical pathways, enhanced guidelines, and improved education as a member of the AUA/ABU Exam Committee and the SUO OKAT Committee. He is the President of the SUO. He is currently on the Editorial Board of the AUA Update Series. He is co-editor of the Urology Times. He has served as Chair of the AUA’s CPRC Guidelines Panel and Vice Chair of the AUASUO Advanced Prostate Cancer Guidelines Panel. He was the 2019-2021 President of the Society of Urologic Oncology, and the 20202021 President of the South-Central Section of the AUA. He is a member of the AAGUS, the SPS and numerous professional societies. He has been nationally and internationally recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field of urologic oncology.
The program included a journal club on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 and a Grand Rounds lecture Thursday, November 17, 2022, titled: “Improving Outcomes in Advanced Prostate Cancer: The Value of a Multidisciplinary Team and Evidenced Based Care.”
Ferris Memorial Lectureship in Pediatric Urology

The annual L. William Ferris, MD, Memorial Leadership in Pediatric Urology was held on Wednesday, October 19, with a Grand Round presentation at Jefferson on Thursday, October 20. The lecture was given by Armando J. Lorenzo, MD, MSc, FRCSC, FAAP, FACS, Associate Professor, Department of Surgery, University of Toronto and Head, Division of Urology for The Hospital for Sick Children.
