EUROPEAN ASSOCIATION OF UROLOGY (EAU) ANNUAL CONGRESS 2022
The 37th Annual EAU Congress is Europe’s biggest urological event with specialists and affiliated medical professionals gathering for a critical assessment of clinical practices and key research developments.
The program was held in Amsterdam from July 1 to July 4, 2022. Dr. Gomella was invited to participate in an international panel reviewing the role of active surveillance in the management of prostate cancer from the U.S. perspective.



SIU Montreal: November 9-13, 2022

The 42nd Congress of the Société Internationale d’Urologie (SIU) met in Montreal, Canada, during November 9-13, 2022. Dr. Leonard Gomella chaired a Master Class Session on Germline Mutations in Urologic Cancers. Dr. Scott Hubosky was a panel member and discussed the urological implications for Lynch Syndrome patients, including practical screening practices and treatment options for those patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma. Other international panel members included Dr. Alexandre Zlotta from Toronto, Canada, as well as Mr. Gokul Vignesh Kandaswamy from Wales in the United Kingdom and Dr. Anil Kumar from Bengaluru, India.
Dr. Hubosky participated in additional presentations at the SIU as part of an Instructional Course in “Advanced Ureteroscopy.” His topics included successful achievement of upper urinary tract access; ureteroscope specifications and associated instrumentation; treatment of upper urinary tract obstruction; and awareness and avoidance of complications during ureteroscopy. Dr. Michael Grasso of New York Medical College, a Jefferson Urology alum, also presented ureteroscopic topics, including treatment of upper tract urothelial carcinoma and effective use of lasers for lithotripsy during ureteroscopy.

VIRTUAL LECTURE IN BUENOS AIRES On June 24, 2022, Dr. Leonard Gomella was the guest of Professor Noberto Bernado and the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. In this Zoom platform lecture, Dr. Gomella presented an overview of the evolving role of genetic testing in prostate cancer. According to Dr. Bernado, the online attendance exceeded their expectations, and the University looks forward to inviting Dr. Gomella and other Jefferson Urology faculty to Buenos Aires in the future for an onsite program.
