Message from the President Spotlight Continued Gabe’s calling to the business started as a child, a son of a seamstress and tailor. Among his earliest chores was pickling mulberry leaves to feed silk worms for the family business. At 11 years old, Gabe emigrated to the U.S.A. and when it was time for him to open his own shop, he selected Newtown Square. Gabe considers Newtown Square a hidden gem offering people far more then they initially may realize in specialty shopping choices. He sees a well-balanced community with top notch Fire and Police departments. Moreover, despite its growth, he believes that Newtown Square has maintained the balance, which has appealed to developers, families and businesses alike. Any tailor will tell you, if it doesn’t flatter, it doesn’t fit. Fortunately, D&B Tailors is the perfect fit for Newtown Square. On August 25, 2016, Gabe celebrates his golden anniversary in Newtown Square. Be sure to stop in and offer your congratulations. Cent’anni!

SHOP NEWTOWN SQUARE

Greetings Newtown Square Business Association Members, We have simplified our name to Newtown Square Business Association and will be moving our collateral to reflect that as forms get reprinted. The Board of Newtown Square Business Association is exploring exciting ways to promote business in our village. To stimulate Shopping in Newtown Square, we are presently considering: • “The Shops along West Chester Pike in Newtown Square “producing a 4 panel, legal size, color brochure which is being mocked up denoting map of West Chester Pike and feeder streets with golf flags for merchants and a legend key identifying member stores. This piece is intended for every store member checkout counter, local realtors, new real estate developments (Liseter, Verandas, Carriage Homes at Ellis Reserve, Grande at Muirwood Hill) and welcome baskets delivered to new residents. We will have a two panel directory listing our Newtown Square Business members. • Having banners made and mounted on existing brackets saying Shop Newtown Square for a street presence in Non Holiday (July4, Christmas) Seasons. • Launching a program of pointy Junipers in pots at either side of member(which opt for this) store front where shopkeepers would purchase the pots we are able to procure “at cost” and the N. S. Business Association would underwrite the cost of plant material working with Mostardi Nurseries. Shops would commit to watering and de-littering. We are working hard to make as many of these ideas become reality as possible. Your Membership Dues really makes this work. Thank you for those who have settled 2016 Dues invoice. If you haven’t , please send in your Dues soon to: Newtown Square Business Association P O Box 128 Newtown Square, PA 19073
