Step 1 Gas: Turn shutoff valve OFF Electric: Unplug power cord. Disconnect water heater from the power source.

Step 3 Drain the water. • Connect garden hose to the drain valve (drain to yard) • Turn drain valve ON • Turn T&P valve ON (allows water to drain faster as air escapes)
Step 4 Refill the tank water. • Turn drain valve OFF and disconnect the hose • Turn water supply ON • Tip: Keep T&P valve open allowing air to escape while filling with water. • Turn T&P valve OFF once water drips from valve
Step 3 Re-connect power source. Gas: Turn shutoff valve ON Electric: Plug power cord
