PAVILION

This project involved designing a music center inspired by the genre of jazz, located near City Modern in Detroit, at the corner of John R Street and Adelaide Street. To develop the concept, I began with a case study of the Daeyang Gallery and House.

The concept was inspired by the similarities between jazz improvisation and storytelling, and how those concepts can be translated into architecture. The design incorporated various elements of light and space which create tension and resolution through the interplay of positive and negative space and the manipulation of the scale and proportion of the space. The final result is a unique and dynamic experience that celebrates the legacy of jazz music and its impact on American culture.

During our Visual Communications course, we worked on enhancing our digital ability in programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, Rhino, and InDesign. Our first project introduced us into 3D modeling. We were assigned to pick a tool from the UDM woodshop and create a 3D model of it in Rhino, then work on our linework in Illustrator.
