BACK IN BERLIN

United Methodist Church 20 South Franklin Circle, Chagrin Falls Saturday, October 9 @ 12:30 pm Chagrin Valley Little Theater 40 River Street, Chagrin Falls A moving journey of discovery and emotional healing, the filmmaker returns to his childhood home in England and finds an old suitcase containing letters that reveal the truth about his German Jewish family’s demise during the Holocaust. He invites a longtime friend who was raised in Germany, to translate the documents. While doing so, his friend shares that he too has a family secret. Together, they return to Berlin to retrace both of their families’ histories, which challenges and then emboldens their friendship.

DEAD SEA GUARDIANS

United Methodist Church 20 South Franklin Circle, Chagrin Falls “One small stroke for Man; one giant swim for Mankind.” So begins an effort by Oded, an Israeli, Munqeth, a Jordanian, and Yusuf, a Palestinian, to save the Dead Sea. Despite ongoing conflict and suffocating politics, the three men decide to coordinate an international swim across the Dead Sea.

Twenty-five years after the Holocaust, after Germany agreed to offer reparations to Israeli citizens, distrust still ruled the day and establishing good relations between the two countries seemed insurmountable. That is, until a soccer game was played in Tel Aviv between Israel’s World Cup-winning national team and Germany’s powerhouse team.
