A MESSAGE FROM THE JCCGW’S PRESIDENT AND CEO Thank you for joining us this evening.

Brad Stillman, President

In 1913, our community came together in a shared vision that resulted in a Jewish Community Center to help provide education, arts, culture and social programs and services not otherwise available.

As we begin our second century of service, the JCCGW continues to create a welcoming and inclusive environment, connecting the people of our Jewish community with each other, Israel and the broader community. We inspire individuals of all ages and backgrounds to enhance their social, physical, intellectual and spiritual well-being through Michael Feinstein, CEO programs of excellence rooted in Jewish values. Whether providing meals for seniors, making memories for children at summer camp or giving individuals with special needs a chance to shine, your generosity makes it possible for us to welcome so many people to the Center—and will help us build a new tomorrow for generations to come. This event is the culmination of a lot of hard work put forth by our committee. We want to thank our Chairs Tracy Bloom Schwartz and Alan Schwartz for their dedication, time, energy and talent. We especially wish to congratulate and thank Norma Lee and Morton Funger, recipients of the 2014 Benjamin Ourisman Memorial Award for Civic Achievement. We are grateful for, and inspired by, their long-standing leadership, commitment and support of our community. With sincere gratitude,

Brad Stillman Michael Feinstein President, Board of Directors Chief Executive Officer 3

STATE OF MARYLAND OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL March 8, 2012

Dear Friends: It is both a privilege and a pleasure to be able to welcome you to this wonderful occasion presented to us by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington. Tonight, the honors belong to two good friends of mine, Norma Lee and Morton Funger who will jointly receive the Benjamin Ourisman Memorial Award for Civic Achievement. Norma Lee has been a most amazing friend to the entire Washington, DC community and, indeed through her philanthropic work, the entire country. Her decades of dedication in support of the visual arts, the performing arts, education, healthcare, social service and much more would result in a list too long for one page. Nor could words do justice to the scope and meaning of this work. It will have to suffice to say that Norma Lee’s energy and hard work has enriched numerous lives, transformed communities, and made the world a better place. Standing with Norma Lee for over 60 years has been Morton - Morty - a true mensch. He truly is the embodiment of the definition: “someone to admire and emulate, someone of noble character.” To put it more plainly, Morty is a “stand-up guy with the qualities one would hope for in a friend or trusted colleague.” Neither I nor the Jewish community could ask for a better friend and champion. Tonight, you will hear much about this couple and their lives of service locally, nationally and internationally. Theirs are lives more than worthy of the prestigious honor they receive this evening. Congratulations to you both and to the JCCGW for this magnificent celebration of two of the finest people it has been my pleasure to know. Sincerely,

Douglas F. Gansler Attorney General
