Support Staff Jim Dice
HPER Facility and Clinics Director Jim Dice enters his eighth year as Athletic Facility and Clinic Coordinator, however, he enters his 22nd year on staff at the college. Prior to his recent appointment, Dice has served as an assistant conditioning coach and athletic event manager. Dice also was a standout athlete. He was also a former athlete at JCCC. He competed two seasons in track and field focusing on field events, particularly the javelin. His sophomore year, Dice earned All-Jayhawk Conference and All-East Jayhawk Conference in javelin. As a freshman, he earned all-EJC in the javelin, discus and hammer. Dice went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in health and physical education at UMKC. Dice also was an accomplished weightlifter. He was a member of the U.S. National Weightlifting Team from 1988 to 1995. In 1988 he was the Junior National Champion in the 110 kilos. That same year, he won captured the silver medal at the Junior Pan America Games in Maricuabo, Venezuela in 1988. Dice also was a five-time Olympic Festival medalist, winning two golds, two silvers and one bronze, and in 1992 was a U.S. Olympic Trials participant. Dice also was a threetime collegiate national champion in the 110 kilos, winning in 1988, 1989 and 1991. He capped his competitive weightlifting career by winning the 1995 100+kilo at the U.S. National championships. From 1996 to 1999, Dice served as the AAU National Chairperson for weightlifting. Dice, and his wife, Sarah, have two sons, J.J. and Jospeh.
Susan McSpadden

Susan McSpadden is in her first year on staff at JCCC as the college photographer. She provides the photographs for all JCCC athletic publications, posters and web page, as well as all other marketing and publication images
McSpadden’s experience includes owning and operating her own freelance business, which she’s done for the last 10 years. In that time she has produced images for a variety of Kansas City area publications, organizations and corporations as well as national clients such as GM and ABC. Prior to the freelance life, McSpadden was a photographer and photo editor for The Kansas City Star. She loves to shoot sports, see live music, travel, try new restaurants and spend time with friends and family.
Amy Sellers
Head Coach Dance Team Amy Sellers enters her third season as the head coach of the JCCC Golden Girls. She is the third coach in the dance team’s history. Sellers provides extensive experience from dance competitions, performing and coaching. In her first season, Sellers guided her team to its first ever finals appearance at the National Dance Alliance (NDA) Collegiate National Championship Competition in Daytona Beach, Fla., in April. Her team placed seventh in the finals competition, and was just .384 points shy of first place. A day earlier, the team placed second out of 12 teams in the preliminary round. Last year, Sellers’ team returned to the NDA competition and improved two spots, finishing in fifth place to set a new team mark. At the NDA camp in the fall, Sellers had two All-American winners in Michelle Beeler and Kalyn Maugh, two All-America nominees in Madalyn Meeker and Maegan Burlison, and Monique Lane was a Top Gun Hip-Hop winner. As a team, the Golden Girls squad earned a firstplace in Team Dance, Silver Plaque in game day routine, a Blue Superior Rating Ribbon, a Bronze Bid to compete at NDA Nationals, a Spirit Stick for Collegiate Image and a Most Improved Team Award. This fall, the Golden Girls again earned a Bronze Bid for NDA next April, a Blue Superior Rating Ribbon and a Spirit Stick for Collegiate Image. Additionally, Maugh was an All-American winner, and Audrey Reynolds, Bailee Peterson and Elena Harvey were All-American nominees. In her two years, Sellers has had produced two 10 finishes at the NDA Finals, three All-America winners, and five All-America nominees. Sellers hard work, diligent recruiting and knowledge of dance have been rewarded not only by her team’s honors, but also by producing seven dancers who eventually went on to perform at four-year colleges and universities. Five of those seven came from last year’s award-winning squad. Prior to joining the JCCC staff, Sellers served three years as head coach of the 30-member dance team at Coffeyville Community College. In 2008, her team competed in the American Dance/Drill Team Nationals in Denton, Texas, and received seventh runner-up. A year later at the same competition, her team earned an eighth runner-up. She also had the first and only all-male hip-hop dance team in the country, and they performed at every home game at Coffeyville Community College.
were available for personal appearances, private, civic and charitable events during the year. Sellers also has years of experience as a performer and competitor. She took studio lessons for 12 years, including eight year competitively for Jackie Creamer’s Vision Dance Company in Hays, Kan. That studio team competed in many National competitions across the U.S., including Showbiz; Starpower; Showstoppers and Starlight. Sellers went on to attend Kansas State University where she was a member of the Classy Cat dance team for four years. During that time, she experiences included two bowl games; a Big XII Championship Game, NCAA Tournament trips and NDA Nationals Competition in Daytona, Fla. Sellers earned her Bachelor of Science degree in apparel and textiles with a specialization in apparel marketing. She currently resides in Lenexa, Kan., with her husband, Matt.
Betsy Timm
Administrative Assistant Betsy Timm enters her third season on staff with the JCCC athletics department, and her second as Administrative Assistant. Timm joined the JCCC stafff in Sept. 2010 as an Office Assistant. Prior to her arrival, Timm spent three years in Big Sky, Mont., where she served one year as a licensed real estate agent and administrative assistant for a broker and two years as a coowner of a caretaking and cleaning business for second homes and rentals. A 2007 graduate in sports adminstration from the University of Kansas, Timm was a two-sport athlete at JCCC, competing in soccer and tennis. In the fall of 2003, Timm played in nine matches, including five starts between the pipes, and posted a 2-2 record with 1.5 shutouts and a goals against of 1.67. Her efforts helped JCCC to runnerup finish in the conference and region. That spring she joined the tennis team and competed at both the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots and No. 3 doubles. Along with her doubles partner, Timm reached teh semifinals at nationals and posted 10 wins, the third most at No. 3 doubles in team history. They were also the Region VI champions, and she finished runner-up at No. 6 singles. She finished 12-10 overall in singles and was 9-3 from the sixth spot. Her nine wins ranked sixith most in team history from at No. 6, and her 12 wins overall were tied for 12th on the victory chart by a freshman.
Also while at Coffeyville, Sellers danced one season with the Tulsa 66ers, a team in the NBA Development League. The 66ers dance team entertained fans during the teams 24 home games and
