BOATER’S SAFETY
This is a great time to take advantage of all the great boating available at the JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake and surrounding lakes.
Outdoor Recreation requires a Boater’s Safety Course certificate from Texas Parks and Wildlife in order for customers to rent their powered boats.

Archery Range
Thursday-Monday
8 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
The Rod-n-Gun Recreation Center offers an outdoor archery range with targets ranging from 10 to 60 yards at 10-yard intervals. The targets at the range are crossbow rated. A daily pass is $5. The cost for an annual pass is $40 and $65 for a family of two. Each additional family member is $5. A DoD ID cardholder can sponsor up to two non-DoD ID cardholders for $5 per person. The Range at Camp Bullis is 100% ID Check. All guests must report to the RNGRC and present a DoD ID card. Guests must be in the same vehicle as the sponsor.
SPORTSMAN RANGE (GUN RANGE)
Saturdays & Sundays
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To use the Sportsman Range, patrons must be age 10 and older and be with a valid DoD ID cardholder. All shooters must come inside to sign in. Cost per day is $10 for E-4 and below, $10 per DoD ID cardholder and $15 per non-DoD ID cardholder. DoD ID cardholders can sponsor two non-DoD ID cardholders. Please call before coming out to check on weather and unit training restrictions.

SPRING LAKE SNORKEL & BOAT TOUR
May 20 • 3:30-8 p.m.
Join us as we travel to Spring Lake located in San Marcos and dive into a jaw dropping underwater safari. Together we’ll have an opportunity to see vast aquatic life living in crystal clear waters and learn about the natural lake features formed by the Edwards Aquifer. Join us to check out this Hill Country gem in our backyard. The cost of this program is $65. Patrons ages 12 and older are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult or guardian). Participants must also be able to pass a swim test. This program includes roundtrip transportation from JBSA-Fort Sam Houston to Spring Lake, snorkel equipment, boat tour, and guided tour of aquarium. Rock Climbing At Medicine Wall
June 24 • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Did you know that we have a rock-climbing area local to San Antonio? We will be hosting an opportunity for you and your family to rock climb at the Medicine Wall, located off the Salado Creek Greenway on 1604. Whether you’re a novice with little to no climbing experience, or an expert looking for a belay partner, ODR has your needs covered!
The cost of this program is $30. Patrons ages 8 and older are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult or guardian). Axe Throwing Trailer
JBSA Lackland ODR is “Axcited” to offer you the opportunity to hone your skills with their axe throwing trailer. Pricing starts at $300 for two-hour events at any JBSA location. Each additional hour is $125 with a maximum of four hours. Rental includes transportation to any JBSA location, set-up, facilitation with on-site staff and tear down. Call to make a reservation.

WALKING/RUNNING TRAILS
Did you know that JBSA Lackland has 100+ acres of walking and running trails that run from JBSA LAK Outdoor Recreation to Gillum Fitness Center all the way to Stillman Park? Bring the family to enjoy the outdoors in a nature walk. There are plenty of bird species, wildflowers, turtles and catch and release fishing in Leon Creek. We have even seen deer at Stillman Park. You are welcome to bring your dogs but please remember to keep them on a leash and clean up after them.

Randolph Archery Range
The Randolph Archery Range is located between Eberle Park and the East RV lot and is ready for target practice. Archery passes can be purchased at Outdoor Recreation, bldg. 895. The cost for the daily pass is $5, cost for an annual pass is $40 and $65 for a family of two. Each additional family member is $5.
Eberle Park
Be sure to consider Eberle Park when planning your next family gathering or office party. Eberle Park must be reserved prior to use. You can rent each pavilion for $35, the grill and serving house for $20 each and all the facilities for only $50. Head to Outdoor Recreation (bldg. 895) to reserve Eberle Park or call (210) 652-5142.

ANNUAL PASS SAVES YOU MONEY!
Purchase a Joint Base San Antonio Recreation Park @ Canyon Lake annual pass for $100 for you and a spouse. Buy one and enjoy the lake all year. This pass gets you into the both Sunny Side and Hancock Cove sides of the facility. Otherwise, the daily entry fee for the park is $15 per visit, per vehicle.
Annual passes include a vehicle and boat/trailer pass and are valid for one year from date of issue for daily use only, during normal operating hours. Patrons can also buy a dependent pass for an additional $35 as long as they are over 18 and have a valid DoD ID card. For more information, call (830) 226-5357.
Taking Reservations For Summer Break
Don’t miss out on this year’s opportunity to get out to Canyon Lake with your family. With ten new bunkhouses, ten new bungalows, and ten new cottages available for booking, there are now even more options for visitors to have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Rent a boat five times for a minimum of four hours and get the 6th boat rental free! The price includes all required safety equipment such as life vests but does not include fuel. Beyond The Marina Boat Tours
May 13 and June 3 & 24 • 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Enjoy a 1.5 hour chauffeured boat tour around Canyon Lake. Encounter breathtaking scenic views; discover the lake’s history and the town that still resides beneath. The cost for the tour is $30 per adult and $15 per child 12 and younger. Boat Driving Course
May 20 and June 10 • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn how to drive a boat safely at the JBSA Recreation Park @ Canyon Lake Hancock Cove Marina. This two-hour boat driving course covers boat operation, rules of the water and safety guidelines. The cost for the class is $40 per person. Participants must be 21 years or older and have completed one of the Boater Safety courses listed in the first column.
Kayak And Paddle Board Class
May 20 and June 10 10 a.m. to noon
Please join us at JBSA Recreation Park Hancock Cove beach for a two-hour class on the kayaks and paddle boards. The cost for this class is $20. Call or email to reserve your spot.
Dutch Oven Cooking Class
May 20 and June 24 • 1-2 p.m. Learn a new skill so you can make some scrumptious treats for family and friends. The cost for this class is $20 per person and all supplies are included. Call or email to reserve your spot.
Star Gazing
May 6 and June 3 9:30-10:30 p.m.
Join us for a star gazing class on the lake. See the solar system and beyond like never before though powerful telescopes. This time of the year, we should have excellent views of many of the planets in our solar system in addition to constellations and deep space objects. The price for this class is $10 for children 12 and younger and $20 for ages 13 and older. Call or email to reserve your spot. Start time may vary or the class may be rescheduled due to weather or low visibility.

Outdoor Recreation Centers across Joint Base San Antonio offers a wide array of adventures and equipment to suit all thrill levels, but a new location-specific offering has just kicked the excitement up a notch.
JBSA-Lackland Outdoor Recreation (ODR) debuted a newly improved paintball park which is perfect for casual play, team building challenges, birthday parties or other special events.






Whether visitors are seasoned professionals or paintball beginners, expert ODR staff members are ready to help them make the most of their day by offering guidance, providing additional rental equipment such as padded shirts and pants, and acting as referees.
Groups with a minimum of 10 players ages 12 and older can reserve their time via phone or in-person one week in advance. Their reservation includes access to the 250-foot park as well as markers, hoppers, muzzle covers, protective masks and one bag of paint for only $25 per person for up to four hours of play.
