FIVE WOMEN’S HEALTH SPECIALISTS are making their indelible mark on our community in the vital areas of Cardiology, OBGYN, Facial Plastic Surgery, and Holistic Self-Care. Dr. Samuel Alexander, Myra Fulton, Dr. Sharis Steib, Dr. Sean Weiss, and Dr. Dominique Williams represent the diversity in healthcare imperative for women to manage not only their health medically, but also holistically, in mind, body, and spirit.
DR. SAMUEL ALEXANDER
OB/GYN
VOTED BEST BEDSIDE-MANNER, WOMEN’S HEALTH
Dr. Samuel Alexander is passionately imbuing his wisdom onto the next generation of doctors. After practicing as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist for 30 years in the Greater New Orleans area, Dr. Alexander’s journey has led him back into the classroom. Today, you can find him mentoring students at Tulane University Medical School. This year, he was recognized for his dedication to the OB/ GYN residents with the 2025 Tulane University School of Medicine Teaching Award for Outstanding Clinical Care, Procedural.
“I really enjoy working with residents and helping guide them as they start their careers.” Paying it forward is important to him, as he was most inspired by those who guided him through his residency at the LSU Charity Hospital System and early practice. “They impressed upon me that we’re here to help people,” Dr. Alexander remembers. “That mindset has stuck with me.”
He imparts these values upon his students. “Our specialty is more than just obstetrics and gynecology— it’s medicine. It’s connecting the dots from anatomy to physiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology. It’s slowing down to listen to your patients’ concerns.” It’s putting these pieces together that has resulted in Dr. Alexander’s success and admirable mentorship.

MYRA FULTON
Owner of Thrive NOLA Spa
WALKING THE HOLISTIC WALK
Myra Fulton, owner of Thrive NOLA Spa, a serene escape in the heart of the French Quarter, has practiced self-care throughout her life. Since opening Thrive NOLA Spa in 2020, she has turned this practice into a thriving business focused on relaxation and rejuvenation.
And, since Myra opened Thrive NOLA, she has been no stranger to the spa services herself. Practicing what she preaches and leading by example, she knows that taking care of yourself is vital if you are taking care of others. When her father suffered from a stroke, she became passionate about helping him recover, finding purpose in serving others. This experience amplified her understanding of self-care, and that all people, caregivers and non-caregivers alike, cannot care for others until they care for themselves.
Seeing her clients taking advantage of the holistic atmosphere she has crafted is where Myra Fulton finds her daily joy.

DOMINIQUE WILLIAMS, MD
Cardiology
AN ADVOCATE FOR WOMEN’S HEART HEALTH
Growing up, Dr. Dominique Williams’ commitment to medicine was shaped by her mother, a devoted nurse. “I was exposed to medicine at a young age… During the summer months, I’d go to work with her. I became very passionate about the health sciences and decided to pursue medicine,” Dr. Williams recalls. This experience sparked a lifelong interest in the sciences and inspired her to pursue a career where she could make a real impact.
Since 2012, Dr. Williams has combined expertise and compassion in her approach to patient care. During her studies at Baylor College of Medicine and her training in internal medicine and cardiology at Washington University in St. Louis, she developed a profound passion for women’s heart disease. Today, she empowers patients to take an active role in their care, building trust by listening, clearly communicating, and striving for a deeper understanding of each patient’s unique journey.
Honored with the Knowlton Incentive for Excellence Award, she views her greatest successes as the trust and progress shared with her patients. “Medicine can be overwhelming. Having a doctor that you trust and can openly communicate with is important. Always advocate for yourself.”
Outside of her practice, she’s a passionate advocate for maternal morbidity and mortality, lending her leadership to the American Heart Association’s Maternal Health Equity Research Network. And to reinforce her belief in holistic well-being, she renews her energy through reading, fitness, and quality time with family, friends, and her dogs.
