HD CLASSICS

We are fascinated by the beauty of ancient Cultures and the wonderful stories of the antique Greek Mythology. Also the richness of the hanging gardens of Babylon inspires us for prints and fabrics. In silhouettes we see on the one hand the serene femininity of the mythological siren and on the other hand the heroic femininity of mythical warriors and Egyptian Queens like Nefertiti.

This theme is an homage to contemporary and traditional culture. Classic items like the shirt, the blazer and the short are re interpreted into a modern look. Neet and nerdy and geeky girlie like in popular television series as e.g. ‘Glee’. We also see a more minimalist version of classics. Always easy and relaxed, beautifully tailored with mathematical precision.

GEOMORPHOLOGY

POPTIMISTIC CULTURES

In this theme it is all about evolutionary shaping; form follows nature. We like the coincidental beauty of petrified wood and the fine layered lines of minerals and precious geode stones. Also the isstrange shapes of magma and lava. Besides the visible morphology, fashion is also inspired by the nanomicroscopic world of bacteria, fungal cultures and viruses.

Optimistic and uplifting, arty and creative, happy and almost naïve. Inspired by modern African art, the magazine Pop Africana, recycling art and the playful kitsch we see in music clips. An uncomplicated, colorful, yet feminine beauty. We also see a comeback of the optimistic mood of the seventies, retro futurism, modern Memphis art translated in a funky chic femininity.

Print...Blend In or Stand Out Globally designers ask the same questions every season. How can the prints we choose define our clients? What makes us special? Labels offer different styles but the questions they ask are always the same. Who are the people who wear our clothes? What inspiration comes from within? Are they conformists, blending in, and part of a group? Or eccentrics, going against the grain and standing out, being different? Probably somewhere in-between... Within us all lies the ability or need to fit in to both these worlds but to very different degrees. Some equally balanced, others leaning towards the conventional. Those leaning towards the unconventional, have the need to explore new ideas, finding challenging solutions in the things we choose to wear. In a series of portraits we look at how this can be reflected in prints. Looking at both sides, exploring the various points of balance between them. We all want to be counted, sometimes in a group which can consist of our peers, friends, family, a club, etc. The desire to conform And... We often want to break free!

Xavier stands tall. The camouflage colours and patterns allow him to blend into his environment. His wings tell a story of legends and tales. Dragons and creatures from another world where dreams and fantasies come true. The butterfly wings take him away, free from the realities and constrains of his uniformed world.

Mahuru, the goddess of spring, fell from the sky into the lush meadow. The petals and flowers surround her body, romantic and pretty. Her rebellious nature indelibly inked on her skin.

Gloria, at her age she can do what ever she wants. Be loved, be feared, be grandmother. Eat cake, make potions... A long life full of experience with and amazing knowledge. A lady with hidden talent. She ponders over her next recipe. What herbs will she mix, what spells can she cast?

Alexis stands proud. Her worlds are perfectly balanced, reflected in color and pose. Her body exudes energy and power, exploding fragments bursting free. She controls all things in complete harmony.

Robert walks through the misty haze, tailored and smart. His clothes reflect the diversity of his heritage, the influences from different continents and cultures. His identity unique, a true eccentric. Suited with a twist.

Edelle is always dreaming of somewhere else, losing touch with reality. She steps into the forbidden world thinking it is real, eventually finding the secret path that will lead her away. Her foot passes through the picture, she becomes embedded in the landscape captured, forever unaware that she will never return to the world of normality from which she came.
