BEGINNING OF RESEARCH:
• Addressing the presence of mental health in the Southeast quadrant.

• Statistically, Lancaster city has the poorest recorded mental health status pre-COVID (2019) with 1 mental health facility for approximately 20,000 SF worth of residents.

• Mental health is very broad and nuanced. The measurement of it is a bit intangible and these were only reported pieces of data about it. Thus, the aim was to address the overall ‘quality of life’-type of mental health via everyday

Certifying presence and active participation amongst various age-based, racial, cultural and other groups is crucial to adolescent development and long-term grounding in a place. X

Community involvement has been proven to provide a “sense of belonging and social connectedness”. That connection is an effective tool for improving the general mental health of people of all ages.

Vertical Gardens Urban community gardens and vertical farms bring healthy produce to the community and help educate others on how to grow their own food.
Community Gardens The recipe walls will be located on a wall in a densely populated area such as S Duke or King Street. It’s a place where people can share a recipe that is close to home and foster a culture of family values.

S Shippen St Improve food availability and accessibility by proposing flea market pop up in S Shippen St parking lot twice a week 59 Alley Use exis�ng garage storage units to create ver�cal gardens to improve fresh food opportuni�es and cultural expression through recipe walls. S Duke St Use exis�ng walls along the shopping center to coordinate the recipes grounded in cultural expression with the fresh food provided from the permanent market.
