Harry Potter Era

Wiches, wizards, assassins and powerful leaders started to take their place as popular characters to follow. Fantasy books by Cassandra Claire, Sarah J. Mass, Leigh Bardugo, Holly Black, and Brandon Sanderson took over the shelves. Authors even took liberties of connecting all their books into a single world so that everyone’s favorite characters would always make an appearance somehow in their new books. To this day, people love the many fantasy worlds that make up the genre and the popularity does not seem to be going away any time soon.

The dystopian era took the reading community with them and ran. TheHunger Games by Suzanee Collins, Maze Runner by James Dasher, Divergent by Veronica Roth, TheDarkestMindsby Alexandra Bracken, Legendby Marie Lu, and many more became popular between the years of 2008 and 2017. These books created huge followings online and off. The wide age range of audiences that these stories reached, latched on to them. They made personality tests, fan fiction, movies, tv shows, and more. These stories were all anyone was talking about for years on end and still to this day do people discover these books.
