About Me
Jarod Jankowski
I am a Senior at the University of North Texas. My path hasn’t always been a straight one. From starting as a Biology major, then moving to Phycology and eventually landing on Interior Design. I had some bumps in the road. I feel very fortunate that I am finally pursuing something I absolutely love
I’ve wanted to be a designer ever since I was a little boy. From rearranging my room every month, to designing houses on Minecraft, I knew this was something I always wanted to do. I would like to make an impact on the world of design. That is why I have take steps such as taken the role of VP of my schools

GRAND LUX
To create a warm, engaging and luxurious space that implements soothing colors, rich historical motifs, and simple, easy to use design. Taking advantage of the architectural elements that already exist in the room ads a dramatic dimensionality to the character of the space.
DESCRIPTION
When consulting with the couple I learned that they had certain disabilities that needed to be accommodated in their new home. Asher has Asperger’s so he needs a calm space that’s not too over stimulating, while Sloane struggles with disorganization due to her ADHD.
ADHD
Differences in brain development and brain activity that affect attention, the ability to sit still, and self-control.
Asbergers
Difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.
Color Theory and Contrast
Color theory is the science behind which colors go well together and the art of putting them together. As well as how they make you perceive the space around you
SLOANE AND ASHER
Meet Sloane and Asher. Sloane is from Ireland and moved to Austin for graduate school. She met Asher at a PR event for the museum she worked for. He was a columnist doing a piece on the political pop art exhibit. When Sloane graduated and received a job a the Grand Rapids Public Museum, they had to jump at the opportunity. When consulting with the couple I learned that they had certain disabilities that needed to be accommodated in their new home. Asher has Asperger’s so he needs a calm space that’s not too over stimulating, while Sloane struggles with disorganization due to her ADHD .

HKS OFFICE
An office that focuses on community and thefure of work
CLIENT PROFILE
Stimulating minds, encouraging exploration and experimentation is not just the purview of great teachers; design can also play an important part. Our teams have studied the effects of different environmental stimuli on the brain and we are constantly testing new ideas to make the space more flexible, healthier and more adaptive to the individual.
CONCEPT
The main concept for this office project is to create a space that infuses collaboration with productivity and community. With the future of work being a Hybrid environment, the workspace will be flexible with unassigned work areas and lockers. Using the floorspace for more collaborative environments and designated heads down spaces for one one one work. Using vibrant colors, playful shapes and durable materials reflect the community driven work this sector focuses on. This will foster creativity and innovation.
ALTERNATIVE WORK STYLES
Studys show that different generations respond to the work envoronment diffently, so providing a variety increases productivity and employee engagement.
PERSONALIZATION
Due to desks not being assigned, coves will be designated for employees to personalize there general area rather than there desk so they feel more connected.
DYNAMIC
Vibrant, energetic colors and flexible spaces create an inviting and productive environment that reflects the world of education and community.
FF&E
KITCHEN
A kitchen space that focuses on sensroy design for the hearing empaired.
CONCEPT
In this project, we designed a kitchen for couple in their early 30s on the move from Dallas , Texas to Brooklyn , New York. They found a beautiful home right on the edge of a park in an urban part of town. They are looking to bring the natural world into their home using biophilic design while keeping Universal Design present. Charlie is partially deaf so that is important to him. They have two dogs, Cosmo and Wanda, so having access to this greenspace is needed in addition to an ADA kitchen.

SENSORY
Biophilia Accessibility Universal Design
With large unobstructed windows, the clients are able to immerse themselves in the natural world. Making the outside the focal point, including a custom made stone island.
Due to the clients impaired hearing, a light bar was installed in the base of the island to alert the resident when appliances are complete.
No overhead cabinets to increase visibility. Soft wood ceiling to dampen sound. Eglass auto tinted glass. Smart appliances

RESTAURANT
A Restaurant experience that trasports you to the south of Italy.
BAI TEMPI
The design will capture the spirit and the energy of Deep Ellum’s night scene with the use of dark colors, strong curvilinear lines and Italian flair that draw individuals through spaces and create unique identities in each location (i.e bar, main dining, entrance) to apply effective wayfinding principles. We will be implementing the theory of prospect and refuge by incorporating alternate ceiling heights and use of partitions in the large open dining space to create more desirable seating, as “people prefer environments where they can easily survey their surroundings and quickly hide or retreat to safety if necessary.” (Holden, Lidwell & Butler, 2010). We will apply lighting psychology to our design by using lighting to form functional zones, with varying luminance; brighter in high traffic areas, and dimmer in areas of relaxation (i.e bar, lounge etc.) as “ different illuminance levels establish a perceptual hierarchy and direct the viewer’s gaze”(Sabedra, 2017).
THE BRAND
Our restaurant is to be considered an extension of the vision and design concept of The Botanist Craft Cocktail Lounge, which is attached to Paradiso Restaurant in the Bishop Arts district. Our design is an effort to reimagine the feel of the Botanist Bar in the format of a fine dining restaurant. Incorporating the dark moody colors and textiles of the original bar will reinforce the feeling of privacy and intimacy that creates an effective environment for fine dining.
