LastTango
The Argentinian tango is movement rendered into art with split-second precision, wild complexity and subdued, potent sensuality. The balance of sensual fluidity and absolute control pivots on trust between partners that each will respond to the other with innate intuition and skill.
Expert dancers share an emotional connection, signalled by subtle inflections in expression and body language, allowing for a wide range of expression whether improvised or carefully choreographed.
The speed, drama and acrobatic rhythm of tango can only be fully appreciated in the full sweep of live performance. However, tango overwhelms the senses, making intimate details difficult to appreciate. In Last Tango, Wozniak’s work extracts pivotal moments from live drama, precisely capturing the form of body, the sweep of fabric and the vibrant colours of live performance.
Shot in January 2025 at live performances in Buenos Aires, Last Tango is a collection that explores the tension between the fragment and the whole - invoking the wider scene without surrendering the full context.
