I have a life of short and long term goals I want to accomplish. I’ve listed things from learning how to play piano and surf. I also have a list that says: be a good friend, be a better listener, take longer walks, get up early, call family more often, always write Thank You notes, etc. Year after year though, come almost New Year’s, I never have any resolutions. Since I have made it a habit to have an ongoing list of goals to accomplish, the hyper behind New Year’s resolutions seems a bit silly to me.
Goals should be something we practice day in and out through the year, not something we consider at the beginning of each year There is so much pressure with the advent of a new year to change, to be better, to be something more, to lose three kilograms, etc
It’s a laundry list of improvements that can leave you exhausted. Instead, broaden your perspective and think about long-term goals that will enrich your daily life and that you can realistically conguer.
